Not bad, looks good, not an easy build
I had had my eye on this case for quite some time, and figured it would be a worthy successor to my (now previous) cheap whatever case I was using. You'd think this case would be easy to build with due to the pure size of it, which is one of the major selling points. For me it has not been.Firstly I'd like to say, the case SAYS it supports 140mm radiators on the top. This is just wrong. The NZXT Kraken (stated as 140mm) does not natively fit into the case without some re-jigging. Found a reddit thread of someone who encountered the problem who genuinely, took some cloth to the radiator, and a hammer to smash it into their case. This is either a flaw on NZXTs part or this case, however given the size of the case, I figured there would at least be SOME leaway. The easiest solution is to just, flip the radiator so that the fans face the top, as the 2 140mm fans were no problem. This however made it incredibly awkward to line up, screw the radiator in with the fans in-between the case and radiator. The second issue is the front fan mounting bay behind the front bottom grill ONLY allows for 2 120mm fans, if you only have one, and want one fan centred until the next one arrives, you can't. It just has to be lop sided -_-. Allowing for little customisation in this aspect. And when this one arrives, I have to take EVERY panel off, as well as the interior bottom panel things, to get it in there.Third issue is the harddrive mounting bays. Gone are the days of using brackets to slide them in and out - this saddened me honestly. Yes 'everyone' has SSDs now, but a lot of people still have and are holding onto that one old harddrive they bought years ago with 4tb of space. Would be nice to have a bay where you just, slide it in, it clicks in and done. I spent a lot of time screwing it in as well as awkwardly screwing in around fans etc.I feel like part of this case being so highly reviewed is that it is costly, and people who've spent that money don't want to admit that the product could've been better.. At times I was tempted to flog it off and go back to my much smaller, some how much easier to build in, tiny case. I was bamboozled by a 'top 10 cases of 2023' article, which had the tower 900. However this article was written by a woman who's claim of expertise is that she used to write for finance companies and who's qualification is a fitness qualification.. And she stated one of the 'cons' as the case being quiet -_- (looking at you Lena Borrelli from ZDNet). She clearly had no true expertise on the matter. I also saw a comment on a youtube review of the case that I actually agree with.. Stating the space is so not well thought out, and they honestly were not wrong. There are benefits however, being that I really like how the IO panel is done, I can just lift off the top and it's such easy access than having to crawl under a desk, and makes the sideways motherboard an understandable decision. Secondly that it does look pretty when it's built IF it's built properly/when all the bits are together - please noone smash in your 140mm radiators, just flip them! It's a pain in the butt but atleast you don't have a damaged case. And lastly, the space for cable management is a little more undeniably plentiful, albeit not as plentiful as hoped for, but it's still nice to not have to sit on my back panel to close it.
