This doll Bessie Coleman dolli is adorable and she has the friendliest face with historical costumes pieces that can be used in modern playtime, as well. She's very versatile in bridging the then and now. I bought her I grew in IL and there is a road named for her by the O'Hare airport. For Black history month her background would be discussed. But, later on I read more and she had far more 1st as a woman that made her a tribute to the world. Great job Mattel and great value. Great quality for durability, she'll last for child's play for many years to come. Educational toy that will spark children wanting to learn more about her overcoming challenges and perseverance, this is why it offers such great educational value. She will encourage all children to dream of a career in aviation. Affordable, so that teachers can place in the classroom.

Shes amazing. Detail from belt to boots captures the period extremely well. Her movement at knees and arms is pretty good. Great styling all around. Had to buy two at this price. What a great value for the cost. Great doll all around.

I bought this as a gift for a friend who collects specialty Barbie's. She absolutely loved this Bessie Coleman inspired Barbie! The material was constructed well, and it was in pristine condition. Her face is so pretty. It was priced reasonably. I hope this will be a sought-after item 30 years from now.

It’s so nice to see Barbies pretty much still true to the original design 50 years ago. No giant freakish eyeballs lol I bought this for my niece who is in the Barbie stage now, her tastes are quite eclectic because she’s also in the Bluey stage lol! She knows what she likes! As a professional pilot myself for 50 years, and a female (which supposedly we are oppressed and not allowed to fly airplanes lol,) I thought she would get a kick out of a Barbie that represented who was possibly the first licensed female pilot in our country! Bessie Coleman fought quite the uphill battle back in her day, which was the 1920s When minority oppression was very real, and she figured out how to overcome the brick walls in front of her. She was amazing! She was a first in so many things, unfortunately also the first person to fall out of an airplane because she didn’t have a seatbelt on. When I gave this Barbie to my niece, I asked her to please go on the computer and learn about Bessie Coleman. I pointed out to her that the outfit the Barbie is wearing was Correct for the way a Pilot dressed back then. I hope I lit some curiosity under her butt And she went and learned more about this character!

I was sad that I missed out on the Amelia Earhart "Inspiring Women" Barbie (which now goes for hundreds on ebay) - but with this new Bessie Coleman doll, I now have a pilot in my collection! I love the Inspiring Women line. It's very un-Barbie, which is a good thing - here you'll find short curly hair, gaps in teeth, granny glasses, trousers instead of skirts, olive green instead of hot pink. Even hat hair, which you'll see if you take Coleman's cap off. This is a great doll and an excellent likeness of Coleman, and the outfit seems historically accurate. A wonderful collectible as well as a nice gift for a kid who's interested in history.

This doll is special and truly inspiring, reading the back got me choked up. Love her little twill suit, just wish she had a real neck scarf and tie pin on. Really pleased to own her. A truly inspiring woman!
