Exactly What Fixed My Gas Dryer Flames Not Blowing
Short story. I have a Whirlpool gas dryer that is an older model (over 20 years old) and the flames wasn't blowing out to heat the unit, however the igniter is burning red. I actually bought the package that includes the Thermal Cut-Off Kit, Thermostat, and Thermal Fuse. After watching a bunch of DYI videos on YouTube, I replaced all these parts in my unit. Turned out the issue with my gas dryer not blowing flames wasn't caused by these parts. However, since I've already replaced them and my unit is over 20 years old, I decided the leave them there. After further troubleshooting, I found I needed to replace the Gas Valve Coil and Flame Sensor so I bought these. It's exactly what I needed and completely fixed the issue. I had absolutely no experience installing any of these, so I watched a bunch of DYI YouTube videos explaining how to install these and I was golden. I was able to install them on the first try. Saved me so much money having to call a pro repair man to come to install these. However, one thing to note is the ignitor is extremely brittle. All I was doing was tightening the screw on the housing compartment and the right side of the ignitor snapped off. After carefully checking for a reason, it wasn't touching anything or scrapping off the sides of anything so there was no reason for it to break off. Perhaps I was tightening the screw too hard but the video I was watching said to tighten it like that. Luckily for me, my old ignitor that came with the unit was still usable so I put it back in its place. The was able to install the Gas Valve Coil and the Flame Sensor without any issue. They were actually really easy to install. The Gas Valve Coil and Flame Sensor was what fixed the issue for me. Now my 20+ years gas dryer is working like new. So to summarize, if you see the igniter is red but no flames are coming out, or the flames blowing but only for the first cycle (the flames comes out in cycles or intervals, meaning every 5 minutes or so gas will flow out causing the igniter to burn it so it's not a continuous stream of flame), then it completely stop when there are wet clothes in the dryer then buying these (in particular the Gas Valve Coil and Flame Sensor will fix your issue. It did for me. I highly recommend buying these!

Old Dryer Repaired at Fraction of the Cost of New
Dryer wouldn't run... Installed these parts and now it fires right up, no pun intended. Easy to install, just be sure you know how to disassemble your dryer and locate the replacement part location. Direct replacement. Thanks for the kit.

Good price for whole kit
This kit had all the parts needed to repair the burner on my gas dryer and was reasonably priced. The parts are of good quality and an exact match. The repair was medium difficulty because of having to take off the top and front of the machine, but not too bad. Wish I had checked the fuse at the inside rear of the machine first, however. Turns out that little $2 fuse was the problem so I replaced these burner parts on the front side for no reason, and the dryer still didn’t heat. Replacing the fuse is much simpler, and now the dryer runs great! If you need to fix the burner, this kit has what you need , but strongly suggest checking the fuse and other back of machine parts first.

Parts fit, ignitor is SUPER brittle
Parts all fit a Kenmore gas dryer and seemed equivalent to the original parts. The ignitor, however, broke. I read reviews that it was brittle and handled it with great care, not touching the element, and installed. First start it did not even glow, so I took things apart and saw it was broken. I reinstalled the original ignitor and thankfully it worked/was not the original problem (which I was having trouble diagnosing). After it cooled, the ignitor just broke in pieces with little pressure. So it is really brittle. I don't know if it broke on its own or if even being careful I broke it - and whether there are better ignitors out there, but ultimately it did not work for me.

For the price it's hard to beat
I had a bad gas solenoid and bad flame sensor. Whether one caused the other , I don't know but while the machine was open, I replaced all three components. I figure why wait for the ignitor to go and have to take the machine apart again. I saved the still functioning ignitor in the box which the new arrived. It's in a cabinet above the dryer if there should be failure of the replacement at some point. With a stubby Philps had screw driver and a 1/4" drive rachet set, you can support the drum w/ a wire clothes hanger using one of the nuts on the drum as an attachment point and do the job without removal of the drum - you just have to lay on your belly to get to the parts. Overall an easy job w/ the proper tools. Having a multimeter to test the parts help dx the problem otherwise you're just guessing at the cause.

279311 Igniter Kit
279311 Igniter Kit broke. We knew that it was brittle when taking the old one apart so we needed to be cautious. Still broke. After spending the money on this kit we now have to spend the equivalent amount on just this one piece. Can’t tell you if the rest of the parts will work since this part broke. Don’t recommend this kit. Would return the whole kit.
