So far so good. We cleaned out the water butt. Put in some clean water just enough the put the disk in. It sits on the bottom of the water butt. Having had no rain for a few weeks it has still kept the small amount of water clear, hopefully after some rain last night the water stays clear, I looked at it this morning and I can see the disk on the base as the water is clear and no smell. No smell coming from the water butt during the hot weather 👍👍which was great, and the small amount I put into a watering can during that time was nice and clear. We will get another disk for the slim water butt we have at our greenhouse.UPDATE. We now have another disk in the other water butt, the water is certainly cleaner with this disk in, and no more smelly water. 👍

I have one of these in each of my three waterbutts, and they do a superb job of keeping the water fresh. Any bits of moss or whatever which come down off the roof into the butts are precipitated to the bottom, below the level of the tap, so there is no problem with the gunk fouling the tap. A really excellent product.

Bought this to place inside garden water-butt to help keep the water inside cleaner and odour free. I found that it did make a real difference, but effectiveness does diminish over time. I’ve been replacing them annually, sometimes sooner if summer weather has been particularly hot.

Bought this almost exactly a year ago. All I know is that I popped it into a new water butt and I've never had any algae or nasties. Water is perfectly clear. We were even able to use the water to wash our dishes when Storm Eunice hit and our water went off.

I bought 2 of these; one for a water feature and one for a birdbath. The birdbath had a red bloom growing in it, which would grow back within a few days of birdbath being cleaned. The disc did slow the rate of the red bloom reappearing but only by about a week. Not sure if it needs more than one disc (birdbath only takes 7 litres of water) or if the bird droppings etc. are too much work for the discs. The water feature has been emptied for the winter so cannot report on that item, but if the birdbath is anything to go by I cannot see it working well there either.

Seems pricey, and they look a bit cheap. I was disappointed that its just a piece of plastic covered in silver so I was very sceptical. However, they really do work!We recently fitted a water butt, and the following day after an overnight shower I went to fill a jug from the butt. It was completely green and looked a bit rank.I ordered 2 of these, drained the water from the butt, dropped them in and waited for the next shower. The following day I took a sample and it was CRYSTAL clear. Opened the lid of the butt and it looked like fresh water. Can't say any more than that. I'd order again, and will when I buy a second water butt

Used in our water butts 2 years ago I was sceptical at first . Recently bought another water butt and didn’t bother with thisAfter 6 months this water butt smelt and had to be cleaned.After cleaning I inserted one of these not sure how it works but appears to work for me

This is a curious one. And an extremely disappointing one from my perspective.No impact on a 100litre water-butt collecting rainwater from a garden room. So, I bought two. Twice as good, right? Twice as ineffective. Looking at the reviews, quite why this works for some and not others is a bit of mystery, but maddeningly frustrating when it doesn't. Quite literally about to decommission my water-butt, as the water feels unusable and continues to smell absolutely disgusting with scum on the surface, no matter how many times I empty, clean, refill.UPDATE: Obviously, persevered for a while and the particularly odious odour issue has definitely significantly. I'm tempted to change the star rating to **** BUT ... I did also subsequently combine with a Hoselock chemical product. I will update again when this product runs out and we'll see what we're metaphorically left with.I would also add, as someone elsewhere responded in a question, the quality of the water entering the butt from the drainage site may also have a further bearing. [e.g. Someone suggested filtering the water with, say, some mesh/old tights in order to stop extra material going into the butt and potentially contaminating the water, too. Obviously, this would necessitate occasional cleaning of the filter.

Das Material scheint rhodiniert-versilbertes Plastik zu sein. Etwas dichter als Wasser, damit es nicht schwimmt.Hatte mit einer Silberblechmarke gerechnet.Vom Materialpreis her ist das völlig überteuert, aber wenn es dann funktioniert, soll es mir recht sein. Ob das für Trinkwasser beim Camping geeignet ist weiß ich nicht, für das Brauchwasser dürfte es gehen und den Tank blande halten.
