Looney Tunes: Golden Collection: Volumes 1-6 [DVD] [2003] [2011]

Exceptional quality and value -- 392 cartoons, and 90 bonus feature videos!
I bought this box set as I was disappointed with the quality of cartoons one typically finds online, so wanted to go straight to the source and buy the DVD collection. As others have mentioned, this isn't a full and complete collection, but does include 392 good quality cartoon episodes. Over 1,000 unique cartoons were originally aired, so this box set represents approximately one third of all that were ever made from 1929-present day. (I'm hoping that a second and even third box set collection comes out at some point, that would be fantastic!)To Summarise:---------------------374 Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies episodes.18 Mini-series episodes (Private Snafu, Mr. Hook, The Captain and the Kids, US Government Specials).35 "Behind the Scenes" Videos.55 Additional special feature videos.(Note: Some of the very earliest vintage cartoons are included ONLY in the Bonus Features sections.)So that's a colossal 482 videos, which is quite a lot, Folks! ;)For those who are keen to know precisely WHAT cartoons are included, I've compiled a detailed and complete list here (I've used Wikipedia as my source, and grouped all cartoons by year). Please also note: There was only one cartoon aired in 1929 ('Bosko, the Talk-Ink Kid') so I've included that with the 1930 year (Season 1) for the sake of simplicity. (Your grouping preferences may differ from my own of course...)Cartoons: 374 Episodes in Total:Season 1 (1929-1930)---------------------00 - Bosko, the Talk-Ink Kid01 - Sinkin' in the Bathtub02 - Congo Jazz04 - Lets get these reviews back on point...
After reading all the one star reviews from the people from HUKD I though it about time I put in my review for this product. The sense of entitlement from these people, the majority of whom will of ordered multiple sets only to flip them on eBay anyway, is astonishing. I have had similar experiences via HUKD and amazon (kenwood kmix anyone?) but you just get on with it, it's not the end of the world. And the fact remains that even at around £40 this box set still offers remarkable value. Hours an hours of content, featuring some of the finest animators, artists, voice talent and characters the genre has ever produced. Of its time, most certainly, it also offers a fascinating insight in to social stereotypes of yesteryear and how different cultures were viewed across the early to middle part of the 20th century, certainly itching America anyway. But the best thing about it is the fun. Finding the little gems that you my not have seen since you were a child and having those memories flood back (duck season, rabbit season, duck season, etc. for me ) as well as finding more you will not have seen. Lovingly crafted, beautifully animated, it's a joy. I bough these for my baby son as I wanted to share these with him as he grows older, instead of the 3D identikit cartoons that are broadcasted these days and, even though it will be a while yet, I quite literally can't wait! They are timeless classics and worth the price. To those HUKD people who attempted to buy them for legitimate reasons (for a niece/nephew/son/daughter/etc) I feel for you but... Go on. Spend the extra £30 if you can. Don't let that get in the way of the entertainment, fun and, dare I say it, educational value this box set offers. Take them to a place where everything doesn't have to be a 'helpful' engine or a 'safety first' fireman, the modern cartoons with that bloody life lesson woven in to every episode (Ben and holly aside :)). Let them enjoy the fun of a rabbit in a matador cape beating up a bull in Seville, or a duck with a lisp saving the world...let them enjoy the magic of looney tunes.

Enjoy this collection while you can!
There may be no more but this collection is perfect if you love Looney Tunes and classic cartoons in general, sure some discs are stinkers and don't have cartoons that are one's cup of tea, but its packed with so many features and commentaries and more, its' guaranteed lots of watches.

Looney Tunes
A great collection of timeless classic cartoons!Loses one star due to a completely unnecessary disclaimer designed for easily triggered wet blankets.

Great Boxset For Looney Tunes Fans
This DVD is the best way to have the best highlight shorts on here, I really enjoyed some of the cartoons on these volumes like "Duck Dodgers In The 24th And A Half Century", "What's Opera Doc", "The Hunting Trilogy" (Rabbit Fire, Rabbit Seasoning and Duck Rabbit Duck) and "Birds Anonymous". It includes a great load of special features like Audio Commentary tracks, Music and Sound Effect only tracks, Pencil Tests and some great two-part documentarys about the history of the Looney Tunes and how they hold up with today's time. I would highly recommend this DVD boxset to fans of Looney Tunes and animation in general as these cartoons are no longer shown on Boomerang anymore.

Great classics
Good price although quite expensive for a collection of cartoons. This is the sort of thing that I grew up watching, and childrens cartoons are terrible now. They really to laugh watching these. Its such a shame this along with the other classics aren't more accessible on prime or other subscription services.
