ArrtxAlloy Art Tool Extra Wide Canvas Pliers with Padded Spring Return Handle for Stretcher Bars Artist Framing Tool

I have never built a canvas stretcher before but was necessary for a custom sized print on canvas. I am a pretty good DIY'er carpenter so after a few YouTube videos I built my frame pretty easily and securely. I then YouTube'd a bunch of canvas stretching videos and though I was a bit intimidated by it I had nothing left to do but dive in. I had a basic understanding of how to do this after watching so many video's and I do have a compressor and pnuematic staple gun which really made a huge difference. Using these pliers and starting in the center top to bottom and then left to right, the pliers made my stretch and pull very even and very easy to staple. I had only about 3/4 of an inch material to grab and staple on the back, maybe less than that. These pliers were a blessing. Yeah, maybe the plastic grips slip around or off a tiny bit but truly it was not an issue. The grip well at the fabric and lever very well against the wood frame to pull even and tight. The job turned out fabulous for my first experience and I will definitely use these again next project without intimation. Very pleased with the pliers as a DIY'er.

Works great

I had to install pre-sewn upholstery over framed guns padded furniture. It was extremely difficult to pull the upholstery tight so it could be fastened. There was very little for my fingers to grip and I had no leverage at all. This tool saved the day. It was exactly what I needed to complete the project. The silicon-padded clamps grip securely and never damaged the fabric. The only thing that bothered me was the spring. Just brush it with a finger and it will come off and fly away. That was easily fixed by wrapping a bit of tape around the anchor points, causing the spring to fit more tightly and eliminating the problem. All in all, an excellent value!

Great product, great price, fast delivery! I love making friends, but this is something I do during my loafing time. When it comes to business, I prefer not to have to go forth and back with a supplier until finally an order is fulfilled. This product works well when you absolutely have to use it, but even with severe Rheumatoid Arthritis, it was easier to use my hands and that is not a good thing. The spring continuously falls out and, while it's not absolutely necessary, it is helpful, so it falling out is a pain in and of itself. I bought this hoping it would make stretching canvases easier on my hands and wrists, but it was just as difficult and in many cases, I couldnt even get a proper grip, so it wasn't even usable anyway. Definitely not a product I would recommend, though I'm sure this is not the only stretching tool with this issue.

I'm a photographic printer and use these whenever I stretch a canvas. They're easy to use and grip well. The rubber covers do slide off the handle but not when you are actually using them. Can't argue with the price either.

This tool helps to stretch canvas over a backing. I’d recommend this tool.

Worked well for stretching canvas over a frame. I’ll only be using these a few times per year so they suit my needs. For more frequent use or for high-tension stretching I would spend more for solid steel pliers. These are made of an alloy (painted chrome colour) that doesn’t appear to have high tensile strength.

These made the job of stretching a canvas much easier and create uniform tension on a stretcher than doing by hand, and doesn't leave your hands sore after doing so.Someone had mentioned that the spring comes off pretty easily which I also noticed. The red plastic handle covers also started to slide off almost immediately. Not a huge problem but slightly annoying.Other than that glad I got these and serve the purpose their intended for.
