The Adultery Club: In an often grey world there are fifty shades of seduction

A good read
Without spoiling anything this book gives the tale of an affair from the angle of the 3 people involved. It shows how each person saw things very differently. It was a great read it kept me interested the whole way through. Only reason for 4 stars is I thought it ended to quickly and too easily. Having been the wife in this situation it was eye opening to see everything is not always as it seems. Apart from the ending I thought it was very cleverly written

I had flow expectations when I started reading this book. How wrong I was. it’s eroticism is central to its plot, and overall the tale is well-written and gripping. I found that other books by this writer were far less satisfying though .

I just couldn't bear it! (Although it's a decent book)
Yes, the book was well written and is a page turner, but I just could not stand two of the main characters at all. Nicholas was revolting- shallow, vile and certainly not worth feeling any sympathy for. Oh you poor love, torn between two women-my heart bleeds.Sara was horrid as well and did initially express distaste of women who have affairs with married men, but then set out to do the same herself.Mal, the wife was the best character but should have got rid of Nicholas as he was simply not worth the tears she shed.I totally disagree with a reviewer on this page having an affair with a married man who empathises with Sara that it is not easy to be a mistress. It is not about throwing caution to the wind- it is about being faithful to your partner and that goes for men and women. You can help who you fall in love with and I think the dipiction of Sara is accurate- selfish and ultimately, the loser.Actualy, this book did make my blood boil as you can probably tell. Infidelity is not romantic at all and I think the author accurately made that clear!

Nice read
I liked the chapters in this book, how each one was written from the characters point of view. There were a few funny parts in the story too. I did find it hard to get into at first and for me it only started getting good about half way through but I would recommend this book to readers that like a story to have a happy ending :) definitely makes you think about your own relationships too! Good read :)

Interesting
This is quite a thought provoking book. Three stories told simultaneously from the different perspectives of those involved. I seemed to hate Sara at first because of what she was doing and her really childish view on how this would pan out, but towards the end you realise she will only be seriously hurt because we all know men never leave their wife/husband!!!!Good story and a reality check for anyone daft enough to consider having an affair with a married man/woman.

Unconvincing and misogynistic
I liked the split perspective of this book, and I did read it all the way to the end. However, I found it impossible to understand the motivation of most of the characters. Sara’s parents talk and behave like they’re in their sixties/seventies. It turns out her father is 43! Nick is the same age and again is described in a way I would picture a much older man. It’s impossible to know what attracts not one, but two women to this boring, misogynistic man. Since that’s the basis of the book, it all gets a little tricky. The details of the book feel hard to reconcile (Sara’s stark minimalist apartment with its white sofa versus Sara’s grimy flat with its shopping bag bin leaking Chinese - did she have a personality transplant?!).The conclusion made no real sense as it was never clear what either woman liked about Nicholas in the first place. I also really hated some of the language around women’s bodies - talking about bodies being scarred by motherhood etc just felt tasteless.I didn’t enjoy this book and wouldn’t read anything by this author again.

The Reality Check
This book beats the first Fifty Shades(which l just couldn't get into). I loved then Adultery Club because l know that most men have in mind , a nice fit filly who just wants to have no strings fun, the other side is married with children. Makes you realise what's important and although the fun would be awesome the trail it leaves is even more spectacular, but not for the reasons expected. I haven't been so enthused in a book since my days of reading Jeffrey Archer, glad to know there are some Lawyers who have compassion, but at what price l wonder. Top marks to Tess.

Adultery is not easy
A well written novel from 3 different points of view about the ease with which one can slide into adultery and the grip of sexual attraction. It slightly lost its pace and impetus once the affair came to a head, but it was a good and realistic novel that kept me reading, wanting to know and find out how the protagonists sorted out their lives.
