Microplane 4-Sided Box Grater

Wow what an amazing little grater, ultra sharpe, easy to use and clean.

A lot of box graters I've had in the past sit directly on the work surface when you are using them, so when grating your (un)reasonable amount of cheese they get clogged up pretty quickly because as the gratings have nowhere to go but stay on the inside of the grater. The Microplane 4-Sided Box Grater is quite a lot better because it is that bit larger, and has little legs on the bottom to keep it off the work surface so the gratings don't accumulate.Easier to clean than most graters because one of the sides of the grater comes off. I don't have huge hands, but I find it difficult to clean the inside of most other graters.The Microplane 4-Sided Box Grater is marketed as being "razor sharp", and I assure you this is not just marketing fluff. It really is. It makes grating pretty much everything an absolute doddle. But the downside is that it is very efficient at also grating your fingers! It does come with a hard plastic protective sleeve so at least you don't catch yourself on it rummaging in the cupboard, but I definitely recommend getting some sort of mesh/safety glove because it will only be a matter of time before you catch yourself on it!Overall, pretty hard to fault!

Amazingly good blades on this, making very short work of your standard block of cheese or carrot, and tackling tougher opponents like frozen ginger without a problem. Grating stuff can be one of the more tedious bits of kitchen work, so having something that speeds it up counts for a lot.Very surprised by the other reviews that complain about the plastic deteriorating - perhaps it's just that I haven't been putting mine through a dishwasher, or leaving it to soak in a sink, but I've had a Microplane grater in continual use for three years now, and it's still as good as new. [update: ten years now, and still fine]

... but fragile. The frame on my first one broke quite quickly in normal use; but the zester side is the best I've ever used and makes brilliantly sharp-tasting zest. I'd recommend using their protective glove with it

These are amazing graters. Easy to use, they work extremely well and are easy to clean. It makes short shrift of both hard and softer foods. An excellent piece of equipment

This grater works brilliantly but it is very badly let down poor a poor quality plastic shell which breaks up making the grater useless.If it has a stainless steel frame it would be perfect ....

The handle was rough with seams which were not comfortable to hold. I expected better quality from microplane. Grater is sharp as expected

One of the sides slides off so you can easily clean the inside. It's wonderfully sharp and easy to handle. Highly recommended.

Este rallador ralla de verdad. Es cómodo y facil de usar, las cuchillas que tiene son muy buenas. Mejor que cualquier otro rallador que haya tenido. Si comes bastante pasta y te gusta el queso rallado fresco, este es el mejor rallador. Además, viene con una funda dura para poder guardarlo sin peligro de cortarse. Yo ya lo tenía y estaba encantada. Se lo regalé a una persona que ralla queso casi a diario y me dijo que nunca había tenido un rallador tan bueno. Totalmente recomemdable también para rallar muchos alimentos diferentes. Aunque parezca caro, merece la pena 100%.
