Excellent Performance for DIY Projects
The DEWALT 20V MAX XR Impact Driver (DCF887B) has exceeded my expectations in every way during my DIY testing. What stands out most is its power and efficiency. The brushless motor delivers consistent torque across three speed settings, allowing me to tackle a variety of tasks from driving screws into tough materials to delicate assembly work without a hitch. One thing to note is its compact size, which makes it incredibly maneuverable in tight spaces. However, the trade-off is a slightly heavier weight compared to smaller models, which can be noticeable during prolonged use.I've used this impact driver extensively for building shelves, assembling furniture, and even light automotive work. The LED lights around the chuck are a thoughtful addition, illuminating the work area well, especially in dimly lit corners. In summary, if you're searching for a powerful, reliable impact driver for your DIY projects, the DEWALT DCF887B is a top contender. Its robust performance and ergonomic design make it a valuable addition to any toolkit, ensuring efficiency and precision with every use.

DeWalt is the best!
I bought this new Dewalt impact driver at a great price on Amazon. I already have batteries and chargers so all I needed was the tool. It is so much lighter than my old Dewalt cordless. Also I love the bit holder. No more screwing the tips in and out its just like a compressor fitting. You just pull back and drop it in! Im so happy!!!!

Great lightweight and compact impact driver
I purchased this Dewalt Impact Driver (bare tool only) as I already own several Dewalt cordless tools and batteries. My other batteries and charger's work well with this tool and they are compatible and interchangeable throughout my collection of other cordless Dewalt tools. The build quality is good, the charge speed is fast enough for completing most home projects. The noise level, while a bit on the loud side is manageable with an inexpensive pair of ear muffs. The tools ergonomics are good and this driver has more than enough power for most do-It-yourself applications around a home and home shop.

Torgue!
This baby has torque to spare. Made in Mexico. Would love to find DeWalt made in the USA. However, item is well made and will do any job I ask of it. Be careful who you buy charger and battery from.

Debated this one (845 XR) or the Atomic (850) - note: there are even newer ones coming
So, when the VERY short Dewalt Atomic 850 driver came out it got great reviews and really outpowered almost every other driver in the Dewalt ecosystem. I was sold, but then I started to read reviews mentioning reliability issues (from trades people in particular). Indeed, there were a LOT of them reporting they just didn't hold up. Around this same time, Dewalt released the 840 driver (Sheesh Dewalt....too many drivers!), and it had even more power, but was a little longer and had no speed controls.I assumed Dewalt would release a new XR version to replace their older (but still around) driver and sure enough - this 845 XR came along. Honestly, I'm pretty happy with it overall. Balance, power, control, etc. - all work really well for me. I just used it to install some shower grab bar anchor screws just the other day. No complaints for my uses cases which don't include driving a lot of big lags. The only downside to this tool and even the 850 was that it did not move the bar in terms of sheer power (important IF that is what you need) - especially as compared to Milwaukee and their monster drivers. If you do need that power, then maybe a Milwau....wait, this just in, Dewalt is releasing TWO MORE drivers this year. One is a hydraulic impact (nice for inside use!) and the other is clearly designed to go after Milwaukee on the power front. At first, I regretted not waiting for the new, more powerful, driver they ar releasing, but honestly, it is bulkier, likely heavier and, again for my use case, I'd rather have the smaller tool with likely more finesse (maybe not Makita level finesse, but still good). It is all about the RIGHT tool for the job (which is also why I have the more compact DCD800 drill driver as my every day drill over the BIG 99* series). Nothing wrong with the BIG BOY tools, but overkill for a lot of jobs.I am, of course, tempted by the new hydraulic driver...can't wait!

Awesome tool and great price
This replaces my 18 volt that has performed flawlessly for over 8 years, and I expect to get that many or more years out of this one. This one is more compact, has better lighting, has three impact settings and is lighter weight than the 18 volt. The 18 volt is still going strong, my daughter borrowed it for some home repairs and it was easier to let her keep it and buy myself the newer one. I treated myself to the 20 volt drill with charger and 2 batteries as well. ;)

Another excellent DeWalt product. My husband uses this for his remodels and he is satisfied with its usefulness and quality.
