incorrect dial fitting
Mine turned up with dial not set 0 to 10 but 9 to 6 going thro zero. If this is important to you it can be re-fitted. Tiny drive pin is a pain.(cap comes off to show retention screw, undo screw pull top off, don't lose pin!) Reset and reassemble, hence 2 stars

Threaded collar too loose and does not hold the potentiometer in place
The potentiometer had two faults, the threaded collar was such a poor fit that it could not hold any pressure and so the device could not be securely held in place in its hole, and at the extreme ends of the range the resistance is not 0 ohms.
