Legendary return.
I remember reading this book while at university and thought I'd revisit it again.Set in a world of magic and mythical creatures the story follows a group of friends reuniting after a long absence. During the reunion trouble breaks out between the locals and some strangers. The friends offer their help to the strangers and a journey follows.During the journey friends are made and friends are lost. Fantastic stories unfold along with enemies that all have believed to be fantasies of the past. This volume comprises 3 books which are brought together here along with some added extras for fans. Although based in a Dungeons and Dragons world you don't need to know anything about this game to enjoy the book. The story is brisk and draws you in, making it hard to put this book down. There is violence but it's written in a way which isn't gory but instead flows along like the story. Areas and characters are well described without going into long winded explanations. The characters are also believable, each with plenty of flaws as well as strengths.I'm glad I returned to this book. It's as good as I remember and I'll definitely keep it and return many more times.

A great book
I bought it for my son who read it within a week. He loved it and will buy the other books from the same authors.

Old friend revisited
I read these books first as a teenager and decided to revist them now. To be fair I wasn't expecting them to be as strong a read to my grown up self as they were for me as a teenager. However I am enjoying them, as nostalga helps me gloss over any bumps in the story. If you haven't read them before I recommend them strongly. Lots of great characters and a full unfolding plot. If you are into LOTR, WOW or EQ2 then you will love it. IF you were into AD&D then you missed out if you haven't already read these. The world and encounters are true to the game and its rules.Enjoy, I am

Re-visiting old friends
I originally received Dragons of Autumn Twilight with an old spectrum computer game, and enjoyed it so much that I went on to buy the other two books. As happens, during the course of life I lost them and bought this omnibus edition to re-read. That was also lost in the trial and tribulations of life, and yet again I bought it for a 3rd visit.I never get tired of the trilogy, and each time I read them I feel like I've revisited old friends, exploring Krynn and fighting to defeat the Dark Queen every time. In my opinion, it's a fuller story than the Rings trilogy, with more diverse characters and enough humour and angst to keep the smiles and tears alternating as we follow the companions through their quest. For anyone who loves to escape into fantasy, with dwarves, goblins, elves and dragons, not to mention the more unique dragonarmies and kender you could do far worse than join Tanis and his mismatched band as they set about to save the world.

As good as i remember it. And that was VERY good.
A lovely book that brought back very happy memories of my days playing D&D. Luckily I couldn't remember everything that happened anyway so it was great to read it and then for the memory of it to hit me again a few moments later. Being gently reminded of epic fun evenings playing Dungeons & Dragons with epically good friends, battling monsters with magic and swords. It has great characters and anyone familiar with Dungeons and Dragons will love it and recognise everything immediately. I don't think it's on par with Lord of the Rings probably but it's getting there in terms of depth of characters, breadth and detail of the world in which its based etc. And praise doesn't come much higher that that. The book itself is well made, if of course a little on the large size. Personally I like that and I did buy the combined books 1 to 3 but you can get them individually if you wish. All in all a classic and I am loving it as much if not more so this second time around. If either you played D&D, love Lord of the Rings or indeed any similar fantasy then I don't think you will be disappointed.

Fireball! Wonderfull spell!
I've only just come across the Dragonlance series, after finding a battered copy of Dragons of Autumn Twilight in a second hand book shop. I thought it was great, and as it fell apart towards the end of my reading, I bought this three book collection. Very happy with that decision, as the cover artwork is nice – it fits the feel of the stories – and it's good to have the three books in the Chronicles series together. While I have never actually played D&D, somehow reading these books feels like embarking on a D&D adventure (in a good way!). The classic RPG party composition is there, and acting true to form. Having said that, there is real character development throughout the story arc, which is what makes these books great.
