Great book
My 9 year old daughter LOVES this series. And i’ll admit that while flipping through it I got sucked in! It’s being made into a TV series as well - I’m excited for my daughter’s first experience with seeing a tv show that she’s read the books to. Great story and characters perfect for older kids.

5 Worlds, Book 1: The Sand Warrior review
This is a wonderful book so much so that my 9 Y.O. gladly wrote a review for it.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------My parents bought me this book because I loved Amulet by Kazu Kibushi.I was really excited to read the book when I saw the cover since it looked really COOL! (the illustrations are awesome!) I couldn’t wait to read it. This book is about Emily Lee lighting 5 beacons to save the 5 worlds (she lights only one in this part) and making friends along the way!I really liked this book because it is high on adventure, has wonderful a plot twist and beautiful artwork and so much more. The writing is very kid friendly and it keeps you glued to the book. It was easy to read since I managed finished the book in 2 hours. I cant wait to read the 2nd and 3rd books! You should definitely read this book and recommend it as I did to you and I hope you like it too.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

loved it
It was hard to get into while reading it at first but once you start reading it’s such a phenomenal book. If you love fantasy read it!! It also was kind of similar to the Avatar, as both characters have to save different elements or worlds as they call it

Great Book!
This novel is an amazing debut by a new artistic team led by Mark Siegel (editor and chief of 1st Second publishing). This book contains a complex and interesting storyline reminiscent of Avatar the Last Airbender and the always excellent Amulet series by Kazu Kibuishi. The story covers a lot of ground in its roughly 250 pages introducing us to a Sand Dancer (think bender like in Avatar) a professional athlete, and a slum kid trying to survive. Through a sequence of events, these three are thrown together and placed in charge of saving the world by managing to light a sacred beacon. The book introduces a lot of concepts and moves at a brisk pace which should keep audiences engaged. The artwork is delicate and beautiful conveying the story in delicate detail while fleshing out the world. A great read, I look forward to the sequel.

Beautiful art, engaging story
This book is shades of the "The Fifth Element" for a younger audience (no sex, abstract violence). There's a gorgeous world that we learn about mostly from context (i.e. no big infodumps), a plot that's maybe a little thin/predictable but sets things in motion for a nice epic, and an interesting cast of characters. I can definitely recommend it for its target audience, and I look forward to reading the next volume.

Kid likes it
My reluctant reader is reading! I have a picky reader. This book has them reading! Described by my reluctant reader as multiple stories in one using elements. I’m thrilled.

I loved this, and am looking forward to the next ...
I loved this, and am looking forward to the next installment. The characters are great, and the setting is very richly imagined. It's a really unique world that they've created, full of fun and interesting ideas. The art is beautiful too. For me, this seems to take as influence things like the Nausicaa manga, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Adventure Time.

Beautiful and intriguing
This book has really scratched the avatar itch, full of unique characters, amazing sand magic concept and pushing your boundaries to grow stronger. It is an unusual form of dystopia with the world dying slowly and natural resources rather than plague being the main problem. I will be interested to see how they grow these very different cultures in further books as well as what the final outcome will be.
