Pretty sure it isn't 1095.
This steel sparks, hardens and acid etches just like 1560 & I've forged with both types. Nothing like the 1095 I got from the UK last time I purchased some, and is more a lighter grey when etched.To be a fair review, it was very clean, well wrapped steel and needed little preparation for damascus & at least it wasnt mild steel i suppose, but I'd prefer 1095 I need to prepare than 1560 that doesn't.
