Doesn't work in any wax
My daughter made these with soy wax. And they did not burn well. I was disappointed. But when we tried it with paraffin wax, the wood burns very well. So it's about testing which wax it bur s best in

Wooden candle wicks
I have a candle business. I’m not a huge fan of wood wicks, but some people like them. I love the fact that everything was in the set. It was easy to use.

Not very thick
I was a bit disappointed. Some of the wiks are very thin and less than half are usable. I will not recommend or buy these in the future

Project failed
Bought these just to try making a candle from my jar of bacon fat. Heated the jar in a pot of water to melt, put in the wood wicks and allowed the fat soak up the wicks about an inch. I cut them to about 1 cm before lighting. They burned down pretty quick, then held a small flame for maybe 30 minutes. After that it was too much effort to keep them burning so the whole thing went in the trash. Not sure if a different wick material would work better, or if bacon fat just is no good for a candle. Oh well.

You MUST FOLLOW instructions or they don’t work!
I can see why some left a negative review because I was about to do the same thing until I read someone’s comment. I did not read instructions and just proceeded as I would normally do with a wick. These however need to be soaked in oil first. After redoing my sample candle I let the cherrywood wick soak for about 15-20 minutes and then wiped off. You also have to use 2 per candle. Once I did this they worked extremely well. I will definitely buy these again. Note: as for the crackling sound I only heard it on the first burn and once it got to the wax I no longer heard it. I hope this helps you all.
