Fine grating achieved quickly
This is an excellent quality grater. I mainly bought it for grating cinnamon, nutmeg and chocolate for cocktails and hot drinks. It grates quickly and surprisingly finely, is robustly made and is easy to hold when in use. There’s no need to press hard to achieve the desired effect and it’s easy to clean after use. I’ve also tested it out on some parmesan cheese and lemon zest and it does a good job on those as well. This is a great product, much recommended.

Great grater
Why did you choose this product over others?: Well worth buying and the space it takes up in the drawer (not much).

Fantastic - for hard and soft goods
Baulked at spending this amount on a nutmeg grater, but am so glad I did: it is amazing; you just lightly, with almost no pressure, run the nutmeg down the grater, and the fine gratings just float down like snow, perfectly directed, nothing stuck in the grater. So unbelievably easy, especially compared to the effort required to use a traditional box grater - the bits getting stuck in it, grating the fingers, swearing loudly etc etc.... just shows, get the right tool for the right job. Brilliant and worth every penny. Addendum: used this for zesting an orange - equally superb. And what the blurb says arbout enhancing the aroma, the effortlessness of use, and the grater leaving the fruit smooth and ungouged, is equally correct. The only issue is that this is a small item, too small for zesting large fruits, so I am now buying the larger grater. And if I'm spending £22.00 on a grater, it must be good. Typical USA build quality - excellent.

Perfect for hard cheese, garlic etc
I have resisted buying a microplane due to their usual size...I just wanted one for the occasional blitz of hard cheese on my bolognaise. The smaller size of this plane swayed me and it has been great for my limited needs. I have, since buying it, also started using it for grating garlic (I don't like crushers) and root ginger. Washes very easily and was very reasonably priced.

Unbelievably grate (geddit...?!)
As far as I'm concerned you can't beat Microplane's graters (apart from the little plastic surrounded citrus ones that I think they've stopped making anyway, they were rubbish). Comfortable to hold and perfect for nutmeg and cinnamon. Easy to clean and will last for years and years.

Great little piece of kit
As a keen home chef I used to spend a long time preparing ginger and garlic. This was what I had been missing in my life, sharp, easily controlled and easy to clean.

Fabulous device, wish I haf bought one years ago.
This microplane grater is amazing, easily zest oranges, limes lemons and also grates parmesan and traps the zest etc in the back so that you can effortlessly remove it.

This is my fifth Microplane tool, joining my coarse and fine graters, and it performs exactly as expected: razor-sharp, precise, and excellent for small or uneven spices and roots. Cleanup requires some care but is manageable with patience. The blade housing is well designed, but the sheath’s plastic lock is a weak point—it requires significant force to remove or secure, and I expect it will fail long before the blade dulls. Comfort in use is noticeable, and I opted for a hand-held plane versus a counter-based unit. I've found small surface nobs on ginger or galangal, for example, require more deft grating. This hand held option achieves that. Also, it is run through the dishwasher consistently and without issue. As soon as clean, sheath is returned until future use. Verdict: Outstanding blade quality and performance for fine prep work. Just be prepared for a fussy sheath and handle with care to avoid premature breakage.
