Useful for advanced students
This is a fine collection of gentle, sometimes moving, short stories by well-known and lesser known writers. The English translation, matched with the Russian, seems careful and accurate, though sometimes slightly unidiomatic. The back cover claims that this volume is suitable for intermediate, but I would say it is for the advanced student - some of the stories contain non-standard speech forms and quite complex grammatical structures. The stories appear in the order of their publication, not in the order of their difficulty for the foreign student. The volume also contains just a few pages of notes at the end - while useful, these could have been more extensive. On the whole, though, this is a highly recommended volume.

Simultaneous translation!
This "dual-language" system is a long-overdue layout for being able to read both languages (on facing pages) simultaneously!I am not linguistically qualified to comment on the quality of the translation, but, as translation is often arguable, this layout allows the reader to directly compare (and annotate?)!
