Portable Painter Classic Expansion Pans (8) – Carry Up to 18 Colors - Travel – Pocket Size - Ultralight - Quality

I really love my Portable Painter and these extra pans are a fantastic addition to increase my palette storage capacity. It originally came with a small travel brush (I already have a set of travel brushes more suited to my style of painting), but the palette has an empty slot that runs the length of the pans that used to house the brush. The expansion pans go in this slot and they hold more paint than you would expect. I've been able to add 4 extra colors, which is a lot considering the overall size of the palette. This brings my pan count from 12 to 16.The pans are a about 2/3rds of the size of both the half and full pans. I used one of the split pans and 2 of the long pans. I used 2 of my most used convenience colors in the larger pans, and the split pan contains 2 colors that I like to have on hand but don't use quite as often.My overall palette is a split complementary with the addition of payne's gray, along with 2 whites. I also have yellow ochre because I find it a good landscape color. It's a dry gouache palette and white is the one color I use the most. I also have 2 of my cool yellows because it is a color that is always contaminated with other colors (it is a mixing palette after all). I use one pan to mix cool colors with and the other to mix warm colors with. I do the same with my white.I am considering purchasing a second Painters Palette for watercolor as well. This is the best overallcompact palette I've used. While my current watercolor travel palette is suitable, I have to carry separate water containers and they are so small. When I do make the purchase, I will definitely used the extra expansion pans with it. They are really a game changer when you are working with limited space.

This is an expansion set of pans for your portable painter. You need to have purchased the portable painter to be able to use these pans.

It didn't arrive, so I cannot really review. I received a plastic bag in the mail with their card. That's it. On the other hand, their products are usually amazing!
