The most important thing to consider with supplements is, does it have the right amount of the correct ingredients to do what it's supposed to do. In this case the answer is yes. I have been taking Lutein and Xeazanthin in different forms and supplements for years for eye health and have noticed I've been so far able to stave off some of the vision issues many people begin to experience around age 40, like lessened ability for your eyes to change focus from far to near, etc. I cannot definitively say these supplements are the reason but I believe it has helped maintain the quality of my vision. None of these supplements are going to correct vision loss but this easy to swallow pill with an excellent dose of those two powerful ingredients plus beet root and black pepper extract to aid in absorption may help you retain the vision you have.

I’m an ophthalmologist. I’ll give you the bottom line first. Currently, if your eyes are healthy, there is unfortunately no proven supplement that will help maintain ocular health. The only proven supplement for the eyes is Ocuvite, which does lessen the likelihood of progression of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) for those individuals who have already developed moderate to severe AMD. In individuals whose eyes are healthy, however, Ocuvite is not proven to prevent development of AMD. Bausch & Lomb manufactures Ocuvite, and they did add lutein and zeaxanthin to their most recent formulation (Ocuvite PreserVision AREDS2). Lutein and zeaxanthin are pigments found in the central retina (the macula) and it has been speculated that a dietary supplement might help prevent development of AMD, but this too has not been proven. This hasn’t stopped manufacturers from coming out with all sorts of wacky supplements with a wide variety of unproven ingredients for ocular health. This is one of the more sensible ones. I do take a lutein/zeaxanthin supplement because my eyesight is important to me, it’s not overly expensive, not harmful, and I admit that I’m hedging my bets because medical information does sometimes change. What about beets? Beet greens are rich in lutein. But I am not aware of any evidence that beet root is beneficial for ocular health. So what about this product? It’s fine if you wish to consider taking it. It hasn’t upset my stomach or caused any side effects. The expiration date is printed on the bottom of the bottle. It’s an easy to swallow capsule. Just be realistic about your expectations – you are not taking anything that’s proven to benefit your eyes. Finally, what if you’re someone who already has macular degeneration? In that case, please speak with your eye doctor. You will most likely get a recommendation for Ocuvite PreserVision or an equivalent brand.

They are in small, easy to swallow capsules that may be taken with or without food. I'm comfortable with this product made in a certified facility in the USA. This bottle will provide 90 days worth of vision support at a very reasonable price in an easy to take form. Great value.

Instead of my eyes getting better I started developing floaters so this product obviously didn't do anything to help my eyesight.
