The pictures are VERY MISLEADING. Fabric is longer horizontally and can not be used to make leggings/pants. To make pants/skirt/tail and have the print going the right way, you’d need to have a seam at the knee.

Spandex is an interesting fabric choice for this design and type of print. It does stretch as spandex is meant to do, but it the design doesn't have the same give so you end up breaking the print. I just got this because I loved the look and not because I had a project it mind so I can just choose to use it for something that doesn't need much stretch. But if you are looking for spandex specifically for a project that requires more than a little stretch, be aware it won't hold up and continue to look like mermaid scales.

I was really excited for the fabric for a dress for my 3 year old. Upon arrival the fabric is beautiful, then I noticed a large spot of negative space which makes some of it unusable. The two way stretch is not spandex. It has no stretch return and curls up. It’s unusable. If I was using as a backdrop or didn’t plan to use it as a stretched fabric it might work like party decor or temporary use, but this is unstable for apparel. This is not a stretch fabric because stretching it literally ruins it. It’s impossible to make clothing with. I am so disappointed.

This fabric is not 2 way stretch. It has no stretch at all vertically. It kinda has stretch horizontally, but it doesn't go back to it's original shape after stretching and it runs and cracks the scales (permanently) when stretched. The black between the scales is also see through. So disappointing. I was going to make a dress out of this, but it is not even close to being functional as stretch fabric.
