Swoop is the best of the deluxe Dinobots and I hope he finds his way into everyone's collection as he is fun and dynamic.
Swoop is by far the best deluxe Dinobot. He is a great Pteranodon that transforms into a great robot. A neat difference with his original G1 toy, aside from being able to turn into an arm or a leg (which does not in any way interfere with his primary modes), is Hasbro's choice to go with his cartoon blue chest instead of his G1 toy red chest. The other deluxe Dinobots have red chests which makes Swoop stand out in an additional way (he is also the only aerial Dinobot of the group). Swoop comes with a sword and his Prime Armor hand. Again I am not a fan of using the Prime Armor on his chest but it does make a good shield and also fits nicely on his back if one wishes to keep it on Swoop but out of the way.

The nicest Dinobot
Swoop is the friendliest and most outgoing of the Dinobots. He's good natured, kind and upbeat, but due to the Dinobots' reputation, few know this. Swoop is also arrogant, disobedient and generally disagrees with Optimus Prime. He is a bit of a show off, a highly skilled aerial combatant and bombardier, adept at using fear as a weapon, a weapon he considers to be the greatest in his arsenal. And here we have the final member of the original Dinobots in Swoop. Once again, we get the classic colors and feel of the 1980's version and it works just as well now as it did then. Swoop is pretty easy to transform into a robot and pteranodon. He looks a bit bulky as a pteranodon, but still looks good. He comes with a sword similar to Snarls, but with a different hilt and colored red. Again, a solid Dinobot figure.I recommend this figure to add to the Autobots and form the Dinobots.

Swoop Fly.
I have to say that on the whole I am quite pleased with Swoop (and the others). Their size is fine because they do combine to form Volcanicus. I can't wait for Sludge and Snarl to be released. The transforms are similar to the original G1 and the aesthetic on the whole is preserved. A few joints are stiff, so you have to be sure to read the manual to ensure you're moving a part that is meant to be moved (even if you're sure based on hinge presence, etc). My Swoops face/helm is a little loose for my liking, but I can live with it. Awesome and faithfully updated dinobot. Love him.

Matches the "feel" of the G1 Swoop, but beak problems with the Beast mode
According to my husband: I never owned a Swoop when G1 was out, so my feelings of Swoop are more based on the comic/series than comparison to the original toy. From that perspective, oh, man, am I happy with him. There's one major complaint, however. Let's go through the important things.ROBOT: I have Swoop posed on my desk with sword and "Shield" (the hand of the Combiner) and he's perfectly stable. Ornate wings can cause a problem there, right, Windblade? Swoop doesn't have any problems with that, without having the wings seem overly thin. The only kibble is what you'd expect based on the cartoon, everything folds together nice. Specifically, one of my complaints about Combiner Wars characters are that the "connector" pulls from the front, meaning there's this massive "block" which doesn't match the rest of the body. Swoop's comes up from the back, which not only means there's no obvious sign of it from the front, it's right under the wings so it's not even that noticeable from the back.BEAST: Swoop is a pterrible pterodactyl with the beast's massive torso; but again - it matches the cartoon perfectly. Transformation is a little complicated which is good, although the way the legs unhook and flip backwards is a serious weak point - enough transformation play and the legs will be falling off.The big problem though is that the beak flips up as a "mask" for Swoop's robot face and just... kinda sits there. It's staying up based on a weak notch in the chest and does not have any kind of "lock" onto the head. The beak IS going to get floppy in two, maybe three transformations. That being said, one of the best things about modern Transformers is when they set things up so any and all accessories can be attached to the alt mode so you don't lose them. The "hand" is set up as a shield which attaches on the back and looks fine there; the sword attaches under the beak which... is... going to weaken the damn beak even more. Oops.

Very solid toy, easy to transform, and can combine with other dinobots
Very solid toy. The coloring and the way it transforms are near identical (it’s more posible than the original) to it’s G1 counterpart. If you played with the original dinobots back in the 80s you’ll know how to transform this instantly, and if you haven’t it’s easy enough that you don’t need to read the instructions.Somehow I lucked out and got both Swoop and Slag for $15 each and they’re well worth it. What it doesn’t tell you is that they have the combiner gimmick so you can make Volcanus once all five dinobots are out. The Prime Armor is just the hand/foot add-on (like the Arialbots or Protectobots had) with an extra gimmick built in. Pretty sure you can put a headmaster in it instead of the intended prime thingy. Swoop does look a little weird as an arm though.

It's a dinosaur, and a robot. I don't need to go any further.
For those of you who were born 30+ years ago, this will be a nice update to the classic swoop you had when you were a wee lad. Also, rest easy with the fact that the beak on this one is sturdy. Good times to be had.

A classic G-1 figure.
Dinobots rule. The figure has a very similar mold as the original. (I really dig the plastic red sword - must be a thing from childhood.) I leave it in the box, hanging on the wall next to some others. Packaging is great for display.

Flawed toy
It's just not Swoop without his missile launchers and missiles. At least they released a Dinobot with a sword though. This mold in particular also seems to be plagued with issues. The alt mode head doesn't plug in, the beak doesn't like to stay pegged to the waist in robot mode, and the feet are constantly coming unpegged.
