Womens's Role in WW2
This is an excellent activity pack for those withan interest in the essential role that women hadduring WW2 in the UK.It is, however, a misnomer to offer this product as"a toy". Albeit replicas, the varied contents of thepacks are a good Primary and Secondary source ofevidence for those doing Women's Studies or as anaid to teaching wartime history at school level. The pack contains recruitment brochures on "Lifein the WRNS". A Women's Land Army members leaflet, showing wages, conditions and expectations. Thereare also recruitment materials for the ATS, whichwomen from the ages of 17-43 were encouraged tojoin, many did, including my Mum.Leaflets on life in the WAAF, an auxiliary forcefor women who supported the RAF. Other ephemera area handwritten letter from a nurse, photographs, and perhaps the most poignant of all, a Red Area Passfor the Danger Area at the Royal Ordnance Factory inChorley, Lancashire, where women made, filled andpacked bombs and shells for use at the Front, a jobthat was dangerous in the extreme. To round off the pack there is a copy of "Home Companion"a weekly magazine aimed at Women on the Home Front, whichcost 2d, and is full of tips, adverts of the era and MakeDo and Mend ideas, and a small book of wartime recipeswith such questionable items as Mock Goose, or "Egg-less,Butter-less, Sugar-less, Milk-less Cake".Some twenty items in all which will give students a glimpseinto the major part that women played in keeping the nationgoing, whilst the menfolk were away fighting. It may be a good idea to laminate the paper materials ifthey are to be passed around. This product is ideal for schools, colleges or as memory-joggers for older folk who remember the war years, and it was for that reasonI bought it.Well worth the price.

Brilliantly fascinating
Arrived in good time. I have purchased three of these sets from the same buyer. And I am very pleased with them. I purchased them for my 87 year old mum, to help with her memory. But I found them fascinating. They look like the genuine things (mum will let me know if they are), there is a good range of items that women especially, who were around during the war will find them interesting and will jog their memory. I think they would also be a brilliant teaching tool for children. Something tangible from the war.

Perfectly Brilliant
I bought this for my eight year old daughter as she absolutely loves playing the blitz at home so much so that we currently have a refuge room in our spare room. It is an excellent pack containing all sorts of replica documents, from information leaflets to magazines. she loves it so much that I have just ordered the Home Guard pack now all I need to find are some reproduction posters!

Lots of info
Would not class this as a toy as suggested in the star ratings score for this item, more of an educational item, would be great for memory boxes or anyone doing a project on WWII, as lots of info in the pack.
