Make your kit sounds as good as it should
Bought this as previously I could tune ok-ish, but not great, and time-pressures meant I don't have the time to dedicate getting my Mapex Saturn V to sound as good as it should.Simple-to-use; though I'd recommend following YouTube how-to videos, rather than the supplied manual. The suggested tuning (via the free Tune Bot app) got me pretty close, but where the Tune Bot really excels was in letting you fine-tune your kit.An example:Using the app, and the general consensus the Saturn's favour a low-tuning, I used the app to give me the tunings for my 4 toms at -1 pitch, with not-quite full resonance.Tuned the entire set pretty quickly and it sounded mostly fine, and definitely in tune with itself, but the 10" sounded off to my ear, despite registering clearly as the suggested C#.Jump back to the app, select the 10" drum with a fundamental note of C# but this time increased the resonance some. This lead to a looser batter head, and tighter reso, still on a C#, but a much nicer sounding tom (the heads were now a third, not fourth apart).I then repeated this for the 16" floor tom; kept the same note but shortened the resonance to get more thud. This could've been done without the Tune Bot, but it would've taken me ages.Added bonus is you can then save your settings you're happy with, and re-tune straight away, either pre-gig or with new heads. I personally don't bother saving them to the Tune Bot, as the I just use the app, but it's a neat idea. Also used it to tune my snares, to an A with perfect fourths, and they sound great.Lastly, I really neat trick is you can use a pitch-finder app to get the note off any drum-demo video you like, get a reading of what fundamental note that drum is giving, and then tune your drum to this precise note. There's a video on YouTube of a Mapex Saturn being demo'd for a Korean drum-shop. He plays each tom individually and they sound great, you can get the note using any app you like, then use the Tune Bot to help you tune to this note (in any variety of resonance/attack you prefer).

Fantastic, stick with it
Does a great job but you need to stick with it and learn how best to use it.Not a replacement for your ear more use it to assist you, don't get caught up with other peoples lug frequencies, do you own them use the tunebot to get all of your lugs in tune with each other.

Nearly perfect
I've only had the tune bot a couple of days, I have used it to tune my toms, it is easy to use and gave my toms a great sound, nicely tuned around the kit, it is easy to use and controls are easy to learn, 4 stars at the moment as it just didn't work on my 3 1/2 inch Piccolo Brass Snare, it was giving very low and strange readings, I did try the filter option, but it didn't help (I could be doing it wrong), I will try it on my 5.5 birch snare to see if it works on it, maybe it just doesn't like brass/piccolo snares. I will update rating if I get it to work, I also have the Drumtune Pro App, which works pretty well which I can use for my snare drum, just wish the Tune bot could work with Snare also. The unit looks well made, over all very happy, and worth the investment.

Nearly does everything it says on the tin!
This is a very easy to use, the description does give an indication that it can measure drumhead tension as well as frequency, what it should say it can measure the frequency for each position, same result but it's a different way of tuning and one that can't be done as easily in situ (they may have altered description by now)Having said that it means you can tune to a specific frequency or note as well as measure the fundamental frequency of each drum, something that is not as straight forwards with a tension meter. If you need to very quickly check the tuning of the drum once setup, then suspect the tension measuring device might be quicker solution, having both types of devices is probably the best option, but if the choice is one, then probably this is the preferred choice. The device is well made and appears to have been reasonably well thought out.Would I buy it again - Yes

If you want to unlock the true potential of your drums you need this
For many years I have been using a drum tuning app on my Iphone to monitor the tuning of my drums. Having recently purchased this tune-bot I can safely say that it is MUCH more accurate in achieving an even tuning. You will need to download the app to your smartphone, this has all the info regarding the recommended tuning for drums, tutorials on how to use the tune-bot.Its a very well designed and well made bit of gear, it comes with a foam lined plastic case - this will travel to every gig and every studio session.

Better than what I thought! It should be every drum set
I was undeceived for so long wether to purchase this mainly because of the price and because I’m not too bad at tuning drums by ear (Although not perfect!) and because of reviews I had read so I was a little bit skeptical but I went for it and I must admit that I thought it give my drums a better sound as it made the sound from Tom to Tom roll perfectly and let’s you give your toms a crisp sound. To say I’m impressed is a understatement, I found it really easy to use and now wish I had purchased it sooner, I need to have a bit of a mess with it and learn how to save settings but if your willing to pay good money for a drum kit then surely £80 is nothing. Yes it’s something you won’t use too much but like a guitar tuner should be part of your kit!
