well .. what can i say .. it's very big, almost comically laugh out loud big and quite heavy.It's nearly the same size as a 10" tom so bear that in mind if you've got a tiny bop kit - it might capsize!!Sounds fantastic especially if hit it .. you know .. really hard.You can flip it 180 degrees so the guiro bit is on the bottom and move the clamp to any of three positions.Great combination of well made, great sound and totally bonkers.

I'm a pro musician (MD, piano and drums/perc), and have used many LP products over the years. My original RED Jam Block is something I purchased yonks ago, and still features in my line-up when playing drums. Also bought the BLUE (higher-pitched) one slightly fewer yonks ago - and ditto.Only quite recently, I became aware of the PURPLE and low-pitched version, with both the traditional edge AND the amazing Guiro edge on the other side, and so ordered one. And OH WOW - it's the BEST Jam Block yet! Apart from whopping it like a low Temple Block, stroking its Guiro edge with a drumstick makes the BEST bullfrog impression ever!With my three Jam Blocks (oldest, RED, middle, BLUE and now brand new PURPLE), I feel my (also lovely) set of LP Granite Blocks is now all-but redundant.For those who care about pitch/tuning, roughly speaking, my three blocks are tuned to an A major scale, give or take:PURPLE = ERED = ABLUE = C#I love them all, but probably my newest, PURPLE/Guiro version the most! :-)

OH MY GOD IS RIGHT ABOUT THE SOUND THAT I WAS LOOKING FOR!I bought High and Medium Pitch, and they sound GREAT with either of my sets. Big time cut through on the drumset and balanced difference of sounds when on congas. These blocks are sturdy and terrific heavy duty. Are amazing and I could not suggest them more!!

Best sounding tone block I've owned, mount tends to come loose but is much sturdier than other mounts I've tried.

This is one helluva block Ideal for use when playing 1920s --1930s jazz m usic, and in use with a cow-bell and wood-block sounds authentic or I think it does. Big band and Latin drummers would like it as well, in fact many percussionists may like it.

Indestructible. Good noise.
