There are many versions of the King James out there, most ancient and few modern. There's this idea out there that because the KJV is old, it should be formatted double column with readability left at a minimum. But modern day printing does not require that, paper is cheap, ink is cheap, and books do not need to look like 16th century reference works anymore.The NCPB works hard to make everything as readable as possible, sacrificing almost completely the reference side of things. This is formatted like a modern bible, even more so like a novel. verses are left as small as possible whilst remaining visible. As an update, it has also changed things around, uniformity has been made to grammar, thy and thine are uniformly thy - so it would be "thy house", instead of "thine house" - of course this is all as Norton sees fit, so there may be abborations in the text.It is by far the most beautiful KJV out there, it is a restoration of the 1611, and beats every single single column KJV out there. I own the Nelson single column and it is an atrocious abomination, I cannot read it. This on the other hand is a treasure to behold. It may be expensive but its worth every penny.

Beautiful paragraph Bible skillfully edited by David Norton. It contains notes by the original translators of the King James Bible.It is perfect for reading when you don't need a reference Bible. It was a great companion and blessing during my recent hospitalisation. The paragraph layout works well throughout the Bible, and it is particularly enjoyable when reading the Psalms.

such a different way of reading it it makes a big difference to see the sentence laid out more like prose much clearer.

The content and layout is really great. The leather cover, inner faux leather liner (split away from the spine as not overlapped), paper not great and poor quality ribbons and gold edging is very pale and comes off easily, all leave a lot to be desired. For the full price I would have been disappointed with the quality, but I had it cheap so happy as the content is very good.

I use the NRSV for study but for devotional use nothing can beat the King James version. This is the ideal way to read it. Other reviews explain how David Norton has edited and corrected the text and presented it in modern spelling, punctuation and paragraphing. Most editions of the KJV are based on an eighteenth century layout which has no special authority nowadays. You can get a facsimile of the original but most readers would find it quite hard to use. A modern presentation of the KJV is as legitimate as one of Shakespeare.This edition is in a smaller format than the original and so more convenient for private devotional use. The printing and binding are as good as you would expect from Cambridge and the book opens flat. There are two ribbon markers so you can keep your place in both the Old and New Testament. And this is a complete KJV, with the translators' preface, the Apocrypha and marginal notes. In short, this is the real thing. It is expensive but worth it.

come on Cambridge! quality of bible ,poor,ribbon fell out on opening! overpriced for the paste down binding ,they are not even near Schuyler bibles for quality

I personally have expereinced a Fault- Quality Control Issue with this KJV Bible and am Very dissappointedOn Page 1181 the scroll of Hosea this page is double folded inside and when opening this page,its very obvious that it has Missed being Cut to the Correct size,as it overlaps all the other pagesThis bible by Cambridge University press states that it remains committed to the highest standards of printing and binding and has been made with skill and care and so it should be,Being YHVH -Gods holy living word I suggest this fault issue is immediately investigated and corrected.
