So Quite - I wasn't sure it was working
I bought it locally - since I needed it the same day as my previous Friedrich Chill Premier 8,000 - different model (CCF08A10A ) that died after only 3 years. This model CCV08A10A has a different accordion type side filler - either type doesn't do a great job of filling the gaps between the unit and the window frame - so I bought Insulated Foam Panels which do a better job. The unit is whisper quite to the point I was wondering if it works or the compressor was engaged - it was working - even from the outside the noise is really minimal ( I have a table on the terrace near it and could barely hear it). it has a vent that opens when it is on and oscillate if that function is engaged. I was easy for a change to link it to my phone via Wi-Fi (the previous model was a pain). I takes so time to cool though - it slower at cooling than the previous, much noisier model. it's been one day so longevity is unknown - Friedrich - it seems- is not the same as it used to be - not made in the USA and not made to last life time.... it is also much more expensive than the previous model or comparable units from other brands. I have no idea if other brands perform the same, better or worse. I saw one review of this unit claiming it was noisy which prompted this review - it is dead quite - I hope it will stay alive longer than the previous one.

Very Bad Design and Very Noisy Do Not Buy
The unit arrived unboxed and turned on to make sure it worked. Immediately rattled. Installed in the window the vibration went away. 30 minutes later the rattle returned. The unit is very poorly designed. It can be very quiet then, as it ramps up. It rattles and noisy. I contacted the seller they were amazing helping me out with an offer to return and discount or go through Friedrich. I chose to go through Friedrich. Once I contacted Customer Service, I was told that I needed to get a service tech out to diagnose then they would make a decision on a warranty claim. I asked if this was the best possible way to handle and they let me know that I could go to their website to complain. Note this is my 2nd Defective Friedrich Unit. I paid $1000 for my KULH unit that is 3 years old and freezes up won't cool. I bought this Chill unit to use while battling it out with the Warranty Department on the KUHL. Unit. I should have just bought at 300 GE unit and would probably been better off. Mother says you get what you pay for, well, not any more.

Promising, but Needs Improvement for Bedroom Use
I recently purchased the Friedrich 8,000 BTU Inverter Window Air Conditioner, and while there are some positive aspects, there are a couple of issues that need addressing. The unit's quiet operation is commendable, but there's a noticeable change when the compressor revs up, resembling the sound of a helicopter taking off. This sudden increase in noise level can be quite jarring, especially in a bedroom setting where tranquility is key. Moreover, the unit's vibration is a persistent concern, regardless of whether it's placed on the floor or in the window. This issue could easily be mitigated with a relatively low-cost solution – implementing softer rubber suspension to prevent the compressor's vibrations from resonating throughout the entire unit. It's my hope that the manufacturer's engineering team takes this feedback to heart and incorporates this fix in the next year's model. The crux of the matter lies in achieving a practically silent performance suitable for bedroom environments. It's not an insurmountable challenge, and I believe that the technology to achieve this exists without excessive costs. I recall models from Panasonic and Carrier years ago that utilized non-inverter compressors with specialized blankets for noise reduction, coupled with an indoor blower wheel design that enhanced air flow while minimizing noise. In conclusion, the Friedrich Inverter Window Air Conditioner has potential, but there's a need for improvements to address the sudden increase in noise during compressor activation and the persistent vibration issue. I'm optimistic that the manufacturer can take cues from earlier successes and develop a unit that meets the demands of quiet operation, especially for bedroom use. With these adjustments, this air conditioner could easily become a top choice for those seeking both comfort and peace in their living spaces.

Best Window AC on the market.
I have had this product now for 2 months and I can honestly say that it is the best window unit I have ever had. The installation process is super easy and the interface is incredibly user friendly. The best parts of this unit is how quickly it cools a room and how quiet it is. I HIGHLY recommend this product!
