Worth it
Absolutely brilliant!! I always take it on holiday to keep an eye on my weight. Easy to carry in hand luggage and accurate.

Good quality paperback book-sized scales
This unit is the size of a paper back book: it really is that compact. But even as a 6' tall, 98kg bloke with size-10 feet, I find I can stand on it every day and get consistent readings. Your feet WILL over hang the front and back glass edges if they're largish. I find that fine for the 5-8 seconds it takes to get a measurement. If you can't balance, even for a short time, then this unit ISN'T for you.Like all scales, the unit needs to be placed on a flat, hard surface such as in the middle of a ceramic floor tile, or on one single plank of a wooden floor i.e. not spread across two tiles or two planks. If you don't have a hard surface, find a piece of stiff timber. It won't give accurate readings if it's placed on soft surfaces like vinyl or carpet. The simple instructions are clear but concise. My scale is set to kg but it can give a stone & lbs reading too. Been using for several weeks and it's perfect for a small flat. That's because I take it out of its case, put it on the floor, use and then put it away again. If it was going to be used every day, by several people, as a family weight scale then I'd probably recommend a full-size one. Made of appropriate plastic underneath, nice glass top, reasonably priced good value and in white, nice-looking too - at least IMHO.

Excellent: very portable, accurate and consistent.
A fantastic little scales. I have professional, medical scales at home (worth about £200) and the measurements on these match with the much larger ones. Also if you step on the Tanita four or five times in a row, you will get consistently the same measurement, which is not always (not even often) the case with non medically certified scales. They are light and really easy to carry around. Please note that they need to be initialised the first time: you turn them on, nothing happens (at this point I started to think they were defective!). You need to step on them until you hear a strong beep, and then step off and leave them be for 20s. After that they switch on automatically when you step on them. You need to stay until you hear a double beep (about 5s) and then the reading flashes on the display for about 20s. Don't try to read them while standing, your feet will obscure the display!

Works well but battery life too limited
The machine is excellent but it's a pity the makers chose to fit such a tiny battery (CR2032). It lasts for only a few months if you leave it switched on and ready for use on the bathroom floor all the time. Yet it's inconvenient to switch it on and off after every use.

incredible lightweight gadget
This is the best thing I've bought in ages! I've used Tanita before and it's always been reliable. This is extremely lightweight so it's perfect to travel with. I love that it comes with its own pouch. The white colour is lovely and minimalist. This is superb for keeping track while on the road. When you stand on it (easier than it sounds for something this tiny) one beep says it's started, and two beeps gives the result. Couldn't be simpler. Use on a hard surface.

Very inaccurate sometimes by as much as 400g and not consistent.
Very light weight and easy to use. However it was always off by either 200, 300, or 400 grams. The problem is it was not consistent so you could not add a number to the display. I measured it against 2 other scales for a week and could not make sense of its discrepancy. 400 grams are important when you are on a calorie controlled diet. I had to return them. Such a shame.

Great little scale for travel use
As we have problems controlling our weight when staying in hotels on long overseas holidays,we were looking for a lightweight reliable set of bathroom scales. Searches didn't give us much information even from manufacturers' websites however this product seemed to be suitable. We decided to risk a purchase and have been very pleased with its performance on a recent holiday, which is why I am contributing this review. It is a solid 19cm by 13.5cm and the display takes up half the width and length. It reads in Kg, Lbs and St/lb with respective increments 0.1kg, 0.2lb and 1lb. It beeps when the weight stabilises and then displays the weight for about 15 seconds. The scale weighs 500gm and has a sleeve to stop scratching when packed. The only problem we had was that if you stand on it in landscape format it doesn't stabilise and the weight doesn't record. If you stand on it in portrait format, your feet completely cover the scales but the weight records and you step off and look at your weight.

Cute as a button
These scales are so sweet they almost take the pain out of the answer when you stand on them.Yes they are tiny (size five feet and I still have to balance carefully) so if you're not sure, try standing on a paperback book as it's about the same size. Also you have to read the instructions (not my strong point) to initialize them before they work. But for compactness, accuracy, portability and general cuteness they are perfect. And they come with a little case to keep them inInstructions for Use :INITIALISE Put them landscape format on a hard floor (not carpet) then step on ...... beep ..... step off.ADJUST MEASUREMENT Turn scales over and you can see a "kg / lb / st-lb" tab. Press once for pounds. Press again for stones and pounds. Ignore if you like kilogrammesWEIGHT Step on...... beep ........ beeeeep beeeeeep .... step off. Read
