Great product.
I had my do doubts but gave it a go. Fabulous and very effective results. Our porous hamstone fireplace mantle was damaged when a candle melted into the stone from a hot fire below. There was no way I could get any of the wax out, especially in the carved moldings. However, with this product, most of the wax came out first time and all of it came out in the second go. I was amazed. Very simple to use.

Very effective and got the job done.
We had a BBQ on our new sandstone patio and, inevitably, got fat drippings on the stone which immediately sunk in and stained. This product comes in a tin and has the consistency of a loose jelly. After mixing I followed the instructions and applied a ~0.5cm layer on all of the fat stains. I came back four hours later and they had all dried and could be brushed off. Some of the residue remained so I used a damp cloth to rub them off. However, once the patio dried, I could still see the white residue on the patio so I used the pressure washer on them. This removed the white residue completely from most of the spots and vastly reduced the noticeability of the rest. This product completely removed most of the fat stains from the sandstone. Some stains remained but were very much faded. I think another application would have removed them altogether but they were so faded they were almost un-noticeable. Very pleased with the performance with the only exception being the minor white residue remaining on some parts of the stone. Perhaps a stronger pressure washer would have removed it completely (mine is 100 bar). Would recommend!

Something's changed
I originally posted a very positive review. I ordered twice before and was impressed with this product. I needed a third container and sadly it's not the same. It should dry and absorb oil/whatever's on your stone and then turn into a dry flake that's very easy to remove. The last two containers did that; however, this third order has dried and not flaked and actually left a residue that I'm struggling to remove. I don't feel it's my responsibility to send a defective product back but Amazon doesn't offer any other options if I want my money back or a replacement. I wouldn't recommend this product like before because it's not absorbing what it's meant to and it's a nightmare to remove.

Amazing at getting rid of grease stains on the patio
I don't very often write reviews on Amazon, but I have made an exception for this product. It is brilliant and I wasn't expecting that. I had a BBQ and lots of fat from he BBQ food dripped onto my limestone patio flags. The dark stains looked very ugly indeed. About a week later (so not straight after the BBQ) I tried very strong specialist cleaning products (that are meant to clean oil and grease from stone) that I used "neat" with a lot of scrubbing effort, but that only improved the stain by about 30%. So not good enough at all. Then the following day (9 days post BBQ) I used this HG oil and grease stain remover product which is a "poultice" cleaner. I had never heard of poultice cleaners before, it's something I found out about using Google. After a good stir, you smear it over the stain like pancake batter (it actually looks like pancake batter, and I used the back of a spoon to smear it on) and then leave it to dry. I think you are meant to leave it 3-4 hours, but after just an hour it had worked on my patio. I mean, completely worked. The cream coloured HG product had dried out, and had become discoloured by dark brown fat stain. I then swept it up, and washed the patio with some water and it looks absolutely as good as new. It's honestly like a magic trick. I thought I was going to have to replace about 8 paving flags, but now I don't need to. There are some good YouTube videos showing poultice cleaners working on driveways etc. I was sceptical watching those videos, but this stuff really works. I am not sure if it will remove engine oil from a driveway as well as it removed grease from my patio, but if I ever do get oil stains on my block paved drive I shall try out this HG product on it first. Highly recommended.

Not a lot of it and doesn't work great on old stains.
Bought this for some old oil/fuel stains on our driveway. There is only 250ml of it and it doesn't go far of you apply it according to the instructions. It clearly states that it doesn't do well on old stains, which ours were so we weren't expecting miracles. It did OK, reduced them somewhat but still very visible, we are now going down the acid route instead. Can't vouch for how this does on fresh stains, perhaps it works wonders?

Really worked!
I have a shared yard out the back with york flag stones from 1820. My neighbour decided to pour chip fat onto them to avoid blocking the drains, which looked awful! I ordered this after reading the reviews. It arrived quickly but I was suprised how small the tin was and knew I would not have enough. I tried it anyway on the stone on 'my side'. It dried to a white powder. Very smelly in the process like paint thinners but as I was working outside this did not bother me. After a few hours I brushed it off with a scrubbing brush. It left some white residue but I washed this off with a hose really easily. Once dried I could see it worked - it had removed the oil stains from the stone. Neighbouring stone was still stained so a good comparision. I would have loved to have used this on the hole area, but would need quite a few tins so nature will just have to fade the rest. Turps, patio cleaner and metholated spirits failed to do what this product did achieve - so its brilliant. Best for a small area. Highly recommend.

Does what it says on the tin !!
Great stuff !! Used today on our brick weave driveway , the oil has been there for months , nothing touch it until now , 5 star product but given 4 stars as the quantity is small , as you can see I didn’t have enough to do the whole stain and probably put it on a little too thinly but left for 4 hours and then peeled off most of it then scrubbed off the remainder with a hand brush and the hose , will definitely buy it again to finish the job

Wow - very impressed and got me out of the doghouse
Got me out of the dog house for maintaining my bike on our brand new stone patio! I made the mistake of washing, greasing and lubricated my bike, this involved cleaning the chain and regreasing with the excess dripping onto the stone patio - when the water dried there were large patches of grease / bike lubrication left on several of the stone slabs - needless to say the Mrs wasn't best pleased. I tried everything to remove the grease stains with washing up liquid, soap, water and scrubbers but nothing helped. Ordered a tin of this stuff and was initially very sceptical. As the grease stains were so large I used slightly less of the paste and probably didn't put it on as thick as instructed. It was a very warm sunny day so the paste started to dry after just 5 minutes, it's obvious when it's fully dried as it turned to a white colour. Left it on overnight and came back the next day - my initial thoughts were that it probably hadn't done anything, however I started to remove the dried paste with a wooden spatula and the majority easily cracked off ok - it advises to remove anything left with a wet cloth but it was just as easy to remove with a hose - the very last remnants of it I removed with a scrubbing brush - and then I just waited for the stone to dry. Once dried to my amazement the oil marks had completely disappeared! Other reviewers say that it can make the area lighter which I think it may have slightly however not an issue in the slightest for me and doesn't really show with the type of stone patio I have. Unfortunately I didn't take any good before / after photos but have tried to attach before/during and after screensots from my ring cam - not the best but it does show the grease stains have completely disappeared. Have attached one close up after photo of one of the stones which shows a slight half-circle of grease - the main grease stain was enormous to the left of the half circle has completely disappeared - the half circle of grease was left as I ran out of the paste. Now I know it works I I have ordered another tin to finish the job. All in all I'm a very happy customer and would highly recommend to anyone else who may also be in the dog house currently!!
