Proctor Silex 1500 Watt Iron & Vertical Steamer

This is a wonderful iron. I love the retractable cord. And it shuts off automatically if not moved in about 20 minutes. This iron is not terribly heavy and it handles well.

Absolutely love this iron! It is so easy to use and the steam quality is great. The cord retractability is also effortless. The iron has a nice weight to it. Not too light not too heavy and seems to be super durable . This iron, iron well and can tackle all types of materials.

Good iron, not heavy even with full water, good features, only wish would be the notification beep sound it makes when the iron has reached temperature - the beep is very low and you can only hear when standing adjacent to the iron.

Finally an iron that you can actually view the water level. I got rid of my more expensive iron because the dark burgundy water reservoir was impossible to look through to see the water level. I don’t know who thought that was a good idea..The cord rewind can get a little janky, as every iron I have had with that feature is the same. It does a great job, not too heavy and not too light. Great steam- no spitting. The price is reasonable.

After over 20 years of use, my Rowenta started leaking. Not wanting to spend a lot of money, decided to give this $26 iron a try. It's great. Heats up almost immediately. Very easy to see & move the settings. Easy to fill the water, too. Was surprised it had a retractable cord, but it works just fine. Steam works great. I mostly iron cotton fabrics for quilting & I'm pleased with the results. The negatives I see are that it has to be unplugged to turn completely off. At 30 minutes of inactivity, it beeps & shuts down. However, the red light bar on the handle continues blinking unless you unplug it. I wish it just turned off, but maybe it's a safety feature? The iron is much bigger & heavier than my previous one. The sole plate is the same size, but it's a good 3" taller. And, it weighs just over 4 lbs. It felt heavy to me when I 1st used it, but not a problem now.

This iron seems very sturdy and heavy duty without all of the added weight. The retractable cord is great to keep things out of the way. I can see how there may come a time when it no longer retracts. You do have to make sure the cord doesn't get twisted in order for it to retract. The iron heats up pretty fast. Not fast enough for the hubby, who likes to iron everything on high heat with steam. He's getting used to it though. The self cleaning feature is great. I'm not sure if and how it works. I'm hopeful since we have terrible water here. That has killed more than one iron. I also love the automatic shut-off if the iron remains upright. As soon as it is horizontal again it turns back on. I found this helpful when ironing before packing, being able to stop and start with ease. The only thing I do wish is that it had a power button. Currently, I've to unplug it to insure it is not on. I like to leave it horizontal when not in use to keep it from tipping over. I may be missing something in the instructions that would resolve this.

Feature: Retractable Cord, it's been only 1 month & the cord doesn't work. I just missed the dead lone for return. I bearly use the iron and now I can't return it. And the steam goes out to fast. Light iron over all. No noise easy to use, tho once again now sure what happened with the cord. Quality is ok

Excellent. Somewhat heavier than most irons, but well worth it.
