We use this to practice guitar they do two runs of the timer and it just gives the children a visual finishing time…

I got the 10-minute timer. I tested it when it arrived: the sand took 10m45s to go all the way through. That's ok; we don't expect 'radio-controlled' accuracy from an old-fashioned sand-timer, right?So far, so good.So then I happily set the timer to go as I started a task at my desk that I wanted to take approx 10 minutes. I turned the timer over to start it, left it undisturbed on my desk as I worked...... after a while, I kept thinking "Blimey, this ten minutes is going very slowly!", and eventually I looked closer...... the sand had got 'stuck' in the narrow 'neck' separating the two compartments, after about half of it had flowed through to the bottom compartment. So the timer had 'stopped' when about half the time had elapsed.For me, that makes this device useless. Yes, it started going again when I gave it a bit of a nudge..... but I wanted a timer I could rely on - a timer I could set going and then leave it alone and be able to be confident that it was behaving as it should. This timer is plainly NOT one I can trust.

A sand timer that hasn’t got free running sand is as useful as a chocolate teapot!
