Q: Can it be washed in a washing machine? If not how do you get the sweat smell out?

No it can't be washed in a washing machine. Perhaps soaking it in water with vinegar and Dawn dishwashing liquid will clean it

I don’t know for sure but my guess is no. The beads are throughout the vest and are not removable.

Q: Well this is just to fit a very small woman very petite?

Depends on the size ordered. I bought the 10 lb. vest and I am 5' 7" tall weighing 120 lbs. It fits me fine but it is too small for my husband weighing 160 lb at 5' 8" tall.
