It has replaced my expensive broadband altogether!
Absolutely brilliant piece of kit. As an experiment I bought this to see if it could replace my very expensive broadband contract with PlusNet that was about to run out. Well, with a Smarty £20 a month unlimited data sim it does! It supports streaming on my three smart TV’s, two i-phones, an ipad and a ring doorbell. It never falters or buffers and is on 24/7 without any problems at all. It needs charging about twice a day mind you. AND I can take it with me wherever I go so I don’t have to use dodgy public wiFi. This could be the future when the Government brings in a WiFi tax to replace the TV license fee!Absolutely perfect. I have cancelled my broadband contract with PlusNet as a result and no regrets.

Works well but don’t expect speed miracles
Got this to replace another older Archer I had. Is it better? Debatable, it’s no faster nor reaches further but it does have better bands and the TP Link extenders you can get to create a mesh integrate with it faultlessly.

Fantastic router
The be550 gets a lot of negative feedback but I found it great. Wireless range is about the same as the ax55 it replaced but the speeds are better. Yes you need to update the firmware out of the box, yes you need to decide on SSID names as you can’t combine all 3 bands and yes some of the settings can be a bit confusing! For me turning on OFDMA made my WiFi speeds worse. Personally I don’t use the MLO band as I’m getting 1200mbps without it. Works well on virgin media hub 5. I have the GIG 1 service and get 1200 download on WiFi 6e devices like my pixel 8 pro and MacBook. Older devices like iPhone 14 get 700mbps in same room. In my opinion it looks good, I was never keen on models either the antenna on show. My top tips: make the 2.4 &5 ghz smart connect and make 6ghz band same SSID as the other one. If you have different SSID thinks like apple airdrop don’t work well

Impressed with it
Bargain basement performance . I have an ASUS gaming router and this one I just slung at the back of the house so I could get a signal when Im in my workshop. It constantly if faster than my ASUS and completely stable..never glitches..had it two years now and its still as fast as day one. TP link make some nice stuff for reasonable money. My ASUS was 3x the price and just varies so much in speed I cant rely on it..one day is 350mbps next is 80 mbps..the TP link keeps constant at around 330 . I have other TP link kit bought after being impressed with this and that's too performs very well

Not straight forward for some UK ISPs
Regrettably I had to return this router for a refund. I really wanted it to work. However, despite what other reviewers are saying this does NOT work out of the box with all UK ISPs. It is NOT a case of just entering your username and password. Some ISPs have very specific settings and configurations. Most will not help beyond the basics so unless you are very technically skilled with networking, the likelihood is that you will struggle to get this up and running. I tried for several hours but still could not establish an internet connection. As I said in the beginning I regrettably gave up and returned it.
