Q: Is this suitable as a baby monitor? Is there night vision and sound on it?

No, it's not suitable. Baby monitors are always on continuous monitoring (video a d sound in), however this cuts off feed every 10 minutes, and this is by design, it's supposedly "not designed for continuous monitoring" according to the Ring itself. You could rely on motion alerts, but that means every change of position your little one makes would give you an alert, and you would have to interact with each to load preview to see, and hear what's going on.

Q: Is this suitable to keep an eye on my dog whilst out? Is it motion activated or would I be able to view live even if he’s asleep?

The camera can be configured for different types of motion - but you can check on a live-feed at any time. HTH
