I’m thoroughly impressed with the capabilities of this magnifying glass.It is well lit, has several different lenses with high and very high magnification.And the fact that it can folded into a self standing position is a real bonus. I’ve used it to remove splinters in my hand numerous times.

Ever had that one thing you always needed but never got around to buying? For me, it was a magnifying glass, much like my current need for a stapler. It just wasn't a priority until the moment I needed one, right?So there I was at a local store when I spotted this "As seen on TV" magnifying lens. Impulse told me, "Just get it," and so, in an attempt to avoid future inconvenience, I did. It was less than $20 and already heavily discounted. Soon afterwards, buyer's remorse hit me. Sure, it could magnify text on a printed page, but that was about it - a one-trick pony. I felt like I should have opted for something more versatile instead of a device that only caters to "my occasional newspaper reading," which is never. It seemed to be a product made for a simpler time and an older generation. It was also striped like a rainbow candy cane for some reason. Kind of an oddball product, but it did satisfy the need to have something that would work as a magnifying lens.Fast forward an hour, I ended up returning the magnifying lense and found myself in the parking lot of the same store, browsing Amazon for a better product and a better deal. I stumbled upon this "Magnifying Glass with Light and Stand" that was not only cheaper and also offered more functionality. It had excellent ratings and the ability to do multiple things, not just magnify printed text on a newspaper. I ordered it right away. Cut to a few days later, the product arrived, and just as I thought it would, it remained unopened in a pile of boxes for almost three months.Then came the day I finally unpacked it out of boredom. I was explaining to my daughter how I buy things with the intention of using them eventually but never actually get around to doing it. I remembered that this product was something I had ordered and the whole backstory behind it. I felt guilty and decided to take the time to really get to know this product that won me over a few months back. Upon opening it, I was genuinely impressed with the design and quality. It's clearly a thoughtfully built tool and will serve me well in time. I was surprised to find it comes with a UV light! I don't know when I'll need it, but hey, it's there if I ever do. The stand with rulers also seems like a smart addition for those 'just in case' situations. The LED lights are surprisingly bright, and even though they only work when plugged into a USB power adapter, they did work and they were quite bright. I could fix that issue by putting batteries into it if I needed to use it without a wired power source.A noteworthy mention is the device's compatibility with my phone's camera. Though a bit tricky, it works! It does an excellent job of magnifying objects, even at a 30x digital zoom. The build quality is good, not flawless, but it definitely serves its purpose. It's like this product is future-proofed for any use I might have a need for. In this instance, I used the magnifying glass to zoom in on a dollar bill I had. You can clearly see the quality of the product and the various ways something like this would serve its purpose quite well.Maybe it the inventor in me but I do see areas of improvement with this product, but they are quite trivial. It would be nice if it had a magnet built into it so it could "stick to a metal surface." I also wish it had rubberized feet or stripping to hold it steady on a smooth surface. I feel like the bracket that measures things should have a movable clip to hold whatever I'm trying to measure down, rather than having to place the entire product on top of it. I also think this product could benefit from allowing me to adjust the brightness of the LED lights with a slider. The base could also come with a 1/4" screw thread at the bottom so it can be attached to a tripod or something similar to hold it in place. These are just some ideas and areas of improvement.I bought this to help with future Amazon product reviews, but it's so versatile that I can definitely see myself using it for other things too. While there is always room for improvement, I think this product comes pretty close to being near perfect. I'd recommend it without a second thought. It's great knowing I have this versatile tool at my disposal when the need arises. Now to find a stapler that is just as useful...Has my review been of help to you?
