This works exactly as described in the listing. Not much else I can say except that this is a great tool to begin growing from seeds. Getting gloves was a bonus.

I like this 8 Cell Hand Held Soil Blocker. I like that it comes with 8 cells instead of 4. I have another one that has 4 cells in it, and its so much easier when soil blocking already, to do 8 at a time. It's easy to put this together, and the instructions for assembly are fine. Figuring out which dimple to use is a little more difficult if you haven't used these before. If you've never used a blocker I recommend that you watch some YouTube videos on this, and it will be much easier to understand. Th dimples are a little hard to get on and off, so I have a tendency to put the longer ones on there and leave them on. If I don't need such a deep pocket, I fill it in a little when I'm planting the seed. It's going to take some trial and error to get the water soil ration just right to make these blocks. Again, YouTube will help with that. I recommend this product.

I started looking into soil blocking originally because I wanted to reduce my plastic footprint, but while researching it, I learned that there are actually significant benefits to this approach — roots tend to be healthier because of the natural air pruning that happens, and soil block seedlings generally tend transplant better. The space savings in also a big plus for me since I do grow pretty ambitiously and out of a tight space.This soil blocking tool is SO well made and has a good heft to it. It's going to be service way longer than any of my seedling trays, and I do buy pretty good quality trays! It makes 2in soil blocks, and the kit comes with 3 sizes of seed plugs (which determine how large the hole for the seed is).Getting the recipe right can be a bit tricky, but there's lots of resources on youtube for all sorts of growing regions. The lady who runs Blossom and Branch Farm has some amazing videos on the topic that I found very informative. Good luck and happy growing!

I have been looking for a soil block mold and ordered this one. It makes 8 soil blocks at once and also presses a divot down on the top of the block. I found it easiest to use with slight moist soil.The blocks seems to hold well and allows me to plant the seedlings directly compared to using the plastic and fabric types.The mold works beautifully and have already successfully was used to plant over a 100 seeds.

The media could not be loaded.  It is a bit heavy, very durable. The handle, you hold the mold section up to screw the handle in place. It aligns and goes in easy. The instructions are minimal and not helpful on paper or on the product here. I followed others advice and watched some video tutorials on how to use it.The inserts are plastic, there are 3 different sizes. They do seem hard to pull back out. I would just decide on a size and leave it in. They push into the metal slot in each of the 8 sections. I tried to do it one-handed in the video, so it is easier than it appears.It does take a bit to figure out a good soil mixture with the right amount of water. I am happy with the product and the quality. I would like to see better instructions and a video of them inserting and taking the different dirt depth plastic pieces in and out of the metal tool.The gloves are awful, very thin and do not feel comfortable. But it has zero barring on the product itself. It is wonderful to own a lifelong gardening tool! I feel the price is very good for the item.There are extra plastic caps for the handle openings on each side. I haven't been able to push mine in all the way yet. No extra on the inserts, just 8 each. Align them right to push them in and they should be good.

I like making my own blocks as it saves money and I know what is in them. They are easy to make and use.

a lot of soil blockers come smaller. This really speeds up our gardening process! 8 at a time, and its SOIL BLOCKS so its better for your plants!

This is definitely a game changer on starting your sprouts in the garden. It’s really easy to use and makes everything look much more nice and neat without having to deal with those thin plastic seedling containers that are usually really brittle and break easily in your hands. The only thing you really have to do is figure out the perfect moisture content of your soil for using this obviously, since everyone’s soil might differ, and how wide it is to begin with, they couldn’t add instructions for something like that. It’s a simple trial and error to get it to the perfect consistency to work.
