Read the instructions before playing
A lot of boardgames you can just jump straight into with the instructions open but I'd recommend somebody at least has a glance over them prior to starting just to get the idea of it. Other than that solid game that asks questions you may not have thought of

Family or not. Great, simple and pretty.
Perfect family game, but good for hardcore gamers too as a break from the hours long campaigns. The art is beautiful and the gameplay simple, but invokes conversation amongst all players old and young about why they go the way they do. Essentially an elaborate 50/50 decision game, earn points based on the number of correct or incorrect guesses given, with power up tokens to add some unpredictability. Fabulous.
