I never in my life thought I’d be a bug collector, and then I found a poor monarch butterfly that died in my backyard during a heatwave, still intact. Having never done this before, I looked at the reviews for various insect collection kits and this one had good reviews — and no wonder why! It was delivered quickly and came with all the basics, perfect for a novice. And, their ad on Amazon has a quick tutorial. I note that some of the reviewers were disappointed in the pins (saying they bend easily) but I found the set in my kit worked just fine and without bending (just use gentle, but firm pressure to push the pins into the foam). Very happy with my purchase and highly recommend for beginning big collectors.

Visiting my uncle’s cabin I found a bunch of fascinating insects that were already passed so I wanted to preserve them. This kit comes with everything you need to start off and it works well! Plenty of pins so you can pin several bugs at a time! I will say I had too many bugs so I bought extra foam from a Michael’s craft store. Now my issue is I don’t get any interesting moth species around my house, bummer.

I am thrilled with my bug pinning kit! It arrived promptly and was neatly packaged with everything I needed to start preserving insects. The pins are sturdy and sharp, perfect for delicate specimens. The included mounting board worked great and cane in 3 different parts. I'm impressed with the quality and attention to detail in this kit, making it an essential tool for any entomology enthusiast or curious nature lover like myself!

Bought this for bug taxidermy for the first time, getting my bug soon. I’ll update on if the kit is good in a week :)Update: tweezers are good, it’s definitely a helpful set. Pins are a bit weak and easily bend but I haven broken one yet.

Supplies are great, my talent so far? Not so much....

I collect insects and thought it would be nice to mount some, but this kit leaves a lot to be desired. I wish it was packaged with more care and the tools were better quality. It might be a good set for a kid who wants to see if they’re really interested and invested in mounting specimens, but the more serious hobbyists may need better tools and materials.

I bought this for my husband (the granddad) and our grandkids. They love nature and can identify lots of different plants, animals, and birds. I bought a net on a pole as well, so they can catch insects and use the tool kit to mount them. Hopefully, they will also be able to formally identify the insects using a key. If kids learn simple things when they are young, they have a much easier time learning more complex things (like insect taxonomy) later.
