Finally Found A Dog Food My Dog Enjoys
We were having a hard time trying to find a good dog food for our rescue dog. Almost every dog food we tried either caused him digestive problems or caused him to itch significantly. We had been giving him Blue Buffalo, but he never really seemed to care for it. It was the only one we had tried that didn't cause any problems......until now. Since they "improved" the Lifesource Bits, he has started to itch more and we noticed he didn't seem to have as much energy. We decided to buy a small bag of Merrick's Grain Free and give it a try.I really wish we would have found this product sooner. He will now eat the bowl as soon as we put it down, and he has not had any digestive or itching problems. His energy level is better than every, and he even seems to sleep better. On another note, we always had a problem with him trying to eat his poop no matter what dog food we tried. We tried everything to try and get rid of this behavior, but nothing worked. Well......since we changed to Merricks, he hasn't once tried to eat it. Extremely happy. Don't change a thing Merrick and you'll have a customer for life!

NO MORE CHINA FOOD!!!!
Here's the deal...I was feeding my chihuahua and mini-dach Beneful because the company stated that they only used the best to put in their food...yeah, right! Seems that a bunch of dogs got sick (some even died) because they put in too much of some chemical. That was it! American dog food made in China and then they say it's made for a company in the US. NO MORE! From now on, my dogs will only get Merrick or Blue Buffalo dog food and treats. Usually my dogs would walk away from their bowls and I figured they'd eat when they got hungry...now I know why (they knew it wasn't good for them). When I poured the first bowl of this, they started chowing down immediately! No corn, no soy, only good, wholesome ingredients. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but I now have peace of mind knowing that they're getting what they need and not a bunch of fillers. This is the perfect size for smaller dogs. If your dogs mean anything to you, get them this or one of the many other varieties they make...all good! Believe me, they will thank you for it with tons of doggie smooches!

Great dog food!
This is the best grain free dog food I have found. It is not that much more expensive than competitive brands and is actually a little less costly than others. I have a Cocker Spaniel who has very sensitive skin an ears. She constantly had yeast in her ears and on her skin. The patches on her skin were so bad we medicated her with whatever the vet prescribed. I used medicated shampoos as well. NOTHING worked until I removed her from 'regular' dog food (we fed her the high-end lamb and rice formula, salmon and rice, etc.).This dog food made a difference almost immediately. Her skin cleared up, her ears cleared up and we have had very little problem since. I no longer take her to the vet for her skin and I do not have to use special shampoo for her. She now only gets bathed when she visits the groomer! I was having to give her multiple bathes every week. She was just miserable. I have fed her the duck and steak variety too. She likes them all! I have switched my other two dogs (Bichon and Yorkie-Poo) to this food and they love it! GO GRAIN FREE!

Finally!
So we have been using Merrick Grain Free since we bought our puppy 4 months ago. We loved the quality that merrick provides but we never had luck with the protein source. First we tried chicken and it was okay but not perfect for his sensitive tummy (he is a French bully). Then we went to pork and found out quickly that he was allergic to it (vomiting, lethargy and stomach pain). Then we continued using chicken since it was working pretty well and we had extra (Merrick isn't cheap!). Then finally, we pulled the trigger on a small bag of Merrick Buffalo grain free and let me tell you, it is like night and day! Our puppy has tons of energy all the time and his coat is even shinier! His poops are firm and healthy and he just seems happier! I feel so bad for feeding him chicken all this time.

dogfood
I have a 10 pound Shihpoo who is super picky. I was hoping she would eat this food dry but she won't. I have tried every high end dry food on the planet and ALWAYS have to add some other wet meat to it. Her teeth are fine she has no trouble eating hard treats. I offered her this at first in my hand as a treat and she ate one piece. I put it in her bowl and she did not eat for 3 days UNTIL I added some chopped up chicken to it. She was adopted and came from a home with 4 other dogs, she was underweight from not eating enough. So apparently she is now SPOILED and happy. I am giving 3 stars because if the food tasted so great she should eat it dry like she does her dry treats.

It's in the "lick the plate clean" dog food category
According to research I did before selecting a kibble brand to accompany wet food for my 23# boston terrier, this is a good quality dog food that my dog likes. (I think she would inhale it if given the whereforall to do so.) I see quality dog food as either: good or bad and, if good, either "lick the plate clean" good or "better than nothing" good. My doggie puts this food in the "lick the plate clean" good category so what more can I say? (If looking to supplement online orders with local purchases, I recommend you check around to see how far the nearest Merrick Foods supplier is from your home as not all pet food stores carry it and I've yet to see it in any big box or grocery chains.)

I have a Havanese and a Yorkie, and they both love this! I have noticed that my Havanese's tear stains are a little worse when he eats this food though, and that isn't great. But otherwise, they love the taste, and I love the subscribe and save option!

Smudge is a fan
Our shih tzu was not a big eater when we first got her from the rescue. They told us to feed her nutro as that's what the foster home used, but she didn't seem to love it much. She likes the Merrick a lot once she settled in and started eating more.I generally rotate between different proteins (the buffalo, duck, going to try the beef next) so she gets some variety nutritionally. But overall I like it. Well packaged, good ingredients, good kibble size, the company has a good reputation, and it has a mild food like smell rather than a gross smell.
