These feeders work much like any other entrance bee feeder, but because of the tray design you can also set one on top of the hive or anywhere else you want to feed bees. The tray has raised bumps for bees to climb on and gets filled with only a thin layer of sugar water for the bees to drink. For starters I set one of these feeders on the top of my hive to supplement a hanging frame feeder.I suppose there is a jar out there with an opening the size of this feeder, but neither Regular or Wide Mouth Mason jars fit, so you'd better take good care of the original jars. BTW these jars came jammed together so tightly I couldn't pull them apart. It took a stay in the freezer, some tapping, and mighty twisting to finally free them. That's why I took a half star off. The lack of an easily replaceable jar accounts for the other half. Overall, I can still recommend this feeder.

I just cannot seem to get it to work. The surface tension from the water in the reservoir will not allow the water to flow downward into the tray. I need to squeeze the bottle to get any water to flow downward, which defeats the purpose of the reservoir.✅ Pros ✅ - Clear container lets you know how much water is inside. - Simple design - easy to clean out as needed. - The tray is perfectly shallow for bees to land on without drowning.❌ Cons ❌ - So far, no luck on getting the water to pour downward into the tray yet. Having to squeeze the bottle makes this a bit useless when I could just fill a saucer of water instead. - The containers are pressed together very tightly and hard to dissemble from one another.

I have these water stations around my garden.. I have cucumbers in pots as well as many flowers. They are easy to see and view the volume.. when I water the cucumbers I just spray the yellow tray to remove any debris that might be in there..

Had a little trouble getting the water to dispense on its own but drilled a small space to let the water flow. Work better than other methods like floating devices in water.
