Another Winner from Keen!
I have been a fan of Keen sandals since they first appeared so many years ago. There is just something uber-friendly in their fit and comfort. Better than barefoot--no smashed toes! Anyway, my old Keen sandal collection is getting threadbare so I decided to try the newer "Clearwater CNX". The fit is a bit different, a bit narrower, so you may want to go up 1/2 size. Otherwise, they are lighter than the originals, and completely comfortable from day one. I flirted with another brand of sport sandals for a couple of years, but they fell apart and the Keens just kept going. Never again. Keens forever!

Go-To Hiking Shoe
After reading the reviews, I bought 1 size larger than my Nike running shoe. Fits perfectly. I had narrow feet, so these tend to be wider, but fit is still great, as the laces can be cinched up. I use these as my primary hiking footwear. Sole doesn't have the grippiest traction pattern, but it hasn't been an issue. I don't climb lots of slick rock, but I've done Vernal Falls at Yosemite, Paria Canyon, the Narrow at Zion, Great Falls in VA, Mt Baldy, and other smaller hikes in these with no problems. The only time these were a bad idea were in loose gravel that went up to my ankles -- wish I had some boots and gaiters for that one. These sandals are good for wet and dry conditions. I found them to be fine in rocky terrain, too -- I find the soles to be stiff enough, but I also weigh 150 lbs.

One of my favorites
Almost a barefoot model, it has basically no drop and obviously being a pair of keen sandals, is quite minimalist. Compared to the Newport or Chacos, has little arch support, but it is a nice pair to change out from the Newport. If I was using it for hiking I would go with the Newport, if near water I would go with the Clearwater. It’s much lighter and easier to move through the water, but still a solid feel and protection for feet when the arch support isn’t needed as much.

Lightweight And Better Fitting Version of Keens That Was Too Roomy In The Ankle Collar For Me
I am a male with a narrow fitting heel and an average or narrower forefoot (toes). My bone structure is slight and I am very thin and I have no “meat” (fat) on my feet or ankles (or anywhere for that matter). I have a difficult time finding clothes that fit my frame and finding shoes that are long enough for my foot without being loose and sloppy in the width especially the heel.I owned a pair of Keen Men’s Newport (original from the first model year not H2) size 10.5 and found them to be rugged for working outdoor and great for slip on ease and airport travel. They were also crazy wide. When the Keen Company was just getting off the ground they focused on ruggedness and roominess. The Newports were just too heavy, way too roomy in the width and too clunky for my slight foot and I could not stand to wear them for any great length of time. Also I had to cinch the heck out of the bungee fastener to get the shoe to stay on and not slip off my heel when I walked but the way the shoe was constructed didn't make this a problem. The original Newport ran small in length and I had to go up one size or half size to get the proper length. Then years later Keen introduced the CNX line, a lightweight and fitted (narrower) series of shoe. I originally got the Men’s 10 CNX Clearwater and found them to have too much material over the top of my foot and at the ankle. This was because the shoes was just too roomy for my skinny foot. I had to cinch the heck out of the bungee fastener to make the shoes stay on and not slip off my heel when I walked. This had the effect of folding over excess fabric in the mono-sock collar design of the shoe and the folded over double thick material would dig into the top of my foot uncomfortably. I tried the Men’s CNX Clearwater size 9.5 and found they were just not long enough for my foot and my toe just slightly hit the toe cap of the shoe in an uncomfortable way. The 9.5 however was a much better fit in the ankle and did not have as much excess material around the mono-sock collar when the bungee was cinched. I found the Clearwater to be about true to size where the Newport ran small.I really liked the lightweight feel of the sandal and was not yet ready to give up just because I have a skinny foot. Over the years I have found that women’s shoes are often narrower than men’s. They usually are more colorful too and that isn’t bad for someone like myself that likes colors other than traditional black, grey, brown and athletic shoe white. I tried the Women’s Clearwater size 11 and found the fit was spot on. I still have to cinch the bungee a decent amount but there is no fold over of the mono-sock collar. The width of the Women’s size 11 is really the best I have ever had in a sandal. So far I have had great luck wearing the Women's CNX Clearwater shoe all day with no issues. The size of the Men's Clearwater CNX size 10 was about the size of a size 9.5 Converse Chuck Taylor. The size of the Men's Clearwater CNX size 9.5 was similar or a bit smaller than a size 9 Converse Chuck Taylor.I do want to point out that the Men's 9.5 probably would have worked fine if the toe box was not slightly pointed. Looking down at the Men's 9.5 next to the Women's 11 you can clearly see the men's version is pointed so the middle toes can be the longest toes and the women's version of the shoe has the big toe as the longest toe. Otherwise they fit exactly the same.

they fit good and are very comfortable
After a correction of returning the size 12 for size 13, they fit good and are very comfortable. Water use is great. A little too much sole for me, but when your climbing up sharp rocks out of a lake, there perfect. I attempted to order slightly larger as per other reviews, but they do not offer a 12.5 in several models, not just the clearwater. However, the 13 is not too big. I now know this for the future. If keen made there materials also in the USA, I would be hooked. We need more american based products!!!

Best Water Sandal
These are the best water sandals I've ever had but I find other Keen Sandals such as Aroyyo II's are a better choice for everyday wear. The Clearwater CNX's are comfortable, snug and stylish (mine are Gargoyle/Super Lemon) but lack the comfortable, thicker sole found on other non CNX sandals such as my Aroyyo II's that I need for pavement or trail pounding, plus they lack the heel counter of the Aroyyo's. But they are, as I said, the best water sandals. Sizeing was snug but comfortable for me - a size 12.

Great mix of protection and "feel". These are my favorite summer/water shoes.
I've had Tevas and Nike water sandals, etc, and also other KEEN models, but these are my favorite. At least one reviewer complained about lack of padding, and yes, the soles are thinner than Tevas or KEEN Newports (which I also have)... But that is actually a lot of why I prefer them. I like being able to flex and USE my feet on uneven ground, and IMHO, these give me the right mix of "feel" and "protection". With these sandals, my feet can adapt to the terrain, but I can still run full-out on concrete without aggravating my Achilles Tendon Bursitis. (And I'm an old guy for whom stuff like that is a big issue.) But they are also comfortable enough for lounging around that I rarely feel the need to remove them. Also, I've never had any problem with the "funky smell" some people complain about with KEENs, but I do typically wear them into the water at least once a week during the summer. Highly Recommended.

They're possibly a bit smaller than expected. They fit me, but there's no slack left in the laces.Otherwise they seem well made and look good.

Guter Sandalen, harte Kunststoffsohle
Guter stabiler Schuh.
