Q: Would this work for small breed dog about 16lbs ?or only for cats?

Our cats feel comfortable and safe in this shelter. But both doors are fairly small and the steps are steep. I guess it depends on the actual dimensions of the dog...rather than just the weight. Good luck in your deliberations.

Q: What is the weight of the house?

Don’t know exactly, but to move it you need two people. Pretty sturdy build, weight should show in the manual

Q: How many cats can it hold?

We have a huge 24lb cat and felt this house was not going to be big enough for him. The opening was kind of small for his size. It’s also divided so he couldn’t lay out in the whole length of it. It might be able to fit a few skinny farm cats. We are looking for a doghouse for our enlarge cat. 🤣

Q: Anyone know what kind of paint was used for this cat house? I am considering painting over with an outdoor paint to protect the wood longer.

I've had mine outdoor and we've had a lot of rain and a lot of wind and it doesn't seem to be affecting the paint at all !!
