Great board great pieces

For the current price of around £15, I didn't expect this to be the quality that it is. The pieces are premium, real wood - not veneer, nor imitation. The pieces for checkers and chess were both, well made, smooth without causing a splinter and the bottom of the chess pieces are covered in a felt layer so that it can continue to protect the integrity of the chess board.We've had a few chess sets over the years, this one is one of the nicest we've used. The quality was actually better than expected. Even the board is heave and neatly lacquered.I should mention that there was one crucial annoying factor about this set:The checkers and chess pieces sit on the underside of the board when the board is being used for play. Because of the looseness of the way they fit into their rightful places for storage, we found that a lot of the pieces fell out when we unfolded the board ready for play.This might be problematic when space is limited and you cannot remove all the pieces, for both games, before upending the board.4 stars

A little strange I know but me and the hubby love playing chess and this is a great little board for when we are on our travels.Being magnetic the pieces stay in place with no problems and it all packs away very easily.Good quality and a good price.Recommended.
