DaneKo Danish Blue Cheese (wheel of approx. 5.5 pounds.)

Blue Cheese can be very expensive. Sure you can go to Sam's Club and by those barely enjoyable blue cheese crumbles, but I'm talking about real Danish Blue Cheese. If I go to my local grocery store it's anywhere from $15 to 17 per pound. My wheel came out to $7.83 per pound. Not bad at all, but there's so much more to this. Even 5.81 pounds is a lot of blue cheese to store once opened. I researched a little on the internet and I decided to cut it into 8 chunks and vacuum seal till 99 percent of the air was removed with an oxygen absorber. I don't know if that will help or not. From what I've read you can freeze it, but it ruins the creamy texture. I'm going to try to keep it in the fridge. I'll probably freeze one chunk as an experiment.How does this taste? Very good. It's the real deal and there are complex flavors as you would expect. I'm very happy with the quality of the cheese, and even the shipping. They packed it in a large box with a dozen frozen gel packs. It arrived in perfect condition, which is greatly appreciated. I don't know how long it will take me to go through the wheel, but I'll probably buy it again. Why not? You only live once. If you're on the fence, just do it.Update: Ordered my second wheel, which is very unusual for me (to repeat buy something). I cut up the wheel into 7 chunks and vacuum sealed them with an oxygen absorber packet in quart bags and put them in my refrigerator drawer. They are keeping perfectly, much better than when I tried vacuum sealing and freezing. I'm not worried at all about the shelf life in the fridge now, and it's so nice to have delicious blue cheese whenever I want. You won't find better blue cheese for the money.

Amazon sells two Danish Blue cheese by the whole wheel, and they are both excellent cheeses and excellent value. I have purchased both, and both came very promptly and packed with refrigerants so that both cheeses arrived cool and fresh. I have tried tasting them side by side to see if I can give a preference for one or the other, but I have to say they are both totally excellent. This one may have a slightly sharper taste, and the other one may have a slightly better texture, but you can't go wrong with either one. I love blue cheese and hate to buy expensive 4 oz wedges when I can buy it by the wheel for much better value.

This arrived packaged perfectly and completely cold still from the vendor (Spring Street Specialty Foods). Very happy with how it arrived. After slicing a wedge off and letting it warm up I was truly impressed by how great this blue cheese is. I never thought of ordering online because I was skeptical about its quality. Worry not if you’re thinking of it. I’m a huge fan of blue cheese in all its shapes and forms and this is fantastic blue cheese.

I will get this again… Taste and texture 5 stars. Shipping and packaging 5 stars. Heavyweight box, insulated bag, seven frozen freezer packs, in the bag with the product . Arrived Cold.This is really nice Blue Cheese. Not gross, just Blue.

This is a great tasting blue cheese. I buy a lot of blue and Gorgonzola cheese, to either snack on or to mix into a dish.Thank you so much!

High Quality, excellent taste, cooks well and, best of all, about half what small chunks cost locally.

I really like blue cheese and use it in a lot of my cooking so I ordered 5 lbs of it which is A LOT of cheese to me, but I don't mind freezing cheese so I as able to put all the cheese in 6 quart bags and freeze portions of it to use as I need it in recipes. I received the package super fast and the cold packs were still partially frozen to make sure the cheese did not spoil and stayed fresh. They even included individual stickers of the product that I could use on my freezer bags and this attention to detail was appreciated. Very, very happy with my order and plan to order this product again from this company. Super experience.

I live on this stuff with crackers and pickled vegetables . This is a little too creamy for my taste, and the flavor isn't quite as well developed as I like.
