Amazing results, Professionally used
This is being reviewed by my wife who has been a cosmetologist for 35 years. Her Rusk flat iron she has used for over 18 years finally had to be put to rest so filling it’s place was going to be a task. She feels after going through all of her flat irons this was the closest to her original Rusk that’s she used for years, she was concerned on the dial being on the side because it’s easier to bump and change the temperature control but she was pleased that this one locks into place so this is not an issue whatsoever. This heats up very fast and the unit is very light to work with and the cord is a great length she really can’t see anything negative about this. I wanted to wait 3 weeks before giving this review because the last 3 flat irons she bought thru her professional supply store she had to return because her hair is very thick and curly and these couldn’t perform the task but this 1 did perfectly. She wanted the 1 inch because she can get closer to her scalp. She highly recommends this to anyone wanting professional results.Update: this is still going strong my wife uses this every day at here work and she has been very happy with it.

Amazing product
Works very well. I've also loaned it to others with very thick curly hair while traveling, and it worked well for them also. Unless you have extremely curly hair, it works just as well as a Chi. Save your money and get this instead. Some things I like about the product are: (1) the adjustable temperature dial is nice for those with fine hair as a mid-range temperature works fine for my hair and it allows me to minimize the heat damage. (2) the cord is extra long, longer than any of my other hair appliances, and is great if you are in a space where the outlet is far from a mirror, or at the gym and trying to stay out of people's way while sharing a mirror. (3) The plate is really wide. I feel like it gets the hair really smooth even with just a quick pass. I have really long hair and find it very helpful as I don't want to create any more damage by having to move the iron over the hair really slowly, or having to make two passes over the hair section. The thing that is a little odd (but not bad when you get used to it) is the comb-like attachment on one side. As you slide the flat iron down the hair shaft, if this clip is facing up instead of down, it will pull on your hair terribly and get tangled. I made this mistake several times when I first bought this product and wasn't yet used to it. Now that I have used a few weeks, it doesn't bother me (and I don't make that mistake any more). I'm not sure it really serves a purpose. I assume it is intended to separate the hair, and maybe that is helpful for people with curly hair? My hair has a slight wave to it, and it doesn't seem to do anything for me.**Update**I've had this product for over a year now and still use it regularly. It has held up well, and still works like new.I spend time trying to write helpful and thorough reviews of products that I really like, really dislike, or like with some qualifications that might bother some people in using the product. Good for the price
David's wife here, just got my flat iron. My hair is thin, wavy, freezy and it was bleached and dyed (écaille technique) about a month ago, I showered in the evening and let it air-dry.The iron is light (but not the lightest I've used), the heat-up time was pretty quick, although the light next to the on/off button stays red and doesn't change color, so it's not possible to know when it's ready, but you can feel the heat coming off it. The plates felt soft against my hair and it took me approximately 2-3 passes to get my hair straightened, the ends of my hair tend to get to the outside but with this iron it was easy to get them in.In all, I was satisfied with the flat iron, however my ends didn't seem well finished, and even though my hair is not the healthiest right now, I used my old Hair Art flat iron and it did the trick, that's why I'm giving it 4 stars. Also, the area outside the plates gets really hot, which didn't happen with the other iron mentioned.Maybe I have to try other temperature settings, also, I didn't apply any hair products before ironing it (I know, a heat protection product is on my list of items to buy), but in the last picture I already applied hair spray (Freeze it) on the roots and front ends and shine spray to the rest of the hair (Schwarzkopf Satin Frizz Control), it has been half a day and it still holding up pretty well (take into consideration that the weather is hot and dry where I live).Any questions please feel free to ask.David's wife.P.D. Too bad Amazon doesn't allow to include pictures in reviews anymore.

Love it!
My 8yr old HotStyler died and after doing research on google and seeing the reviews on amazon I decided to give this one a try. I had high hopes, but was ready to be disappointed. But it did an awesome job! Although my hair isnt typical in texture for a black woman, not all flat or curling irons work on my hair. I love how fast it heated up, and I didn't even have to use it on the max temp, it worked just fine on the 400 mark, only having to go over the hair section once. Today was the first time I used it, but I think I love it more than my old flatiron. Pics: Freshly washed & blow dried vs after using the Rusk heat freak. I'm very happy with the results!

Bought it for travel and did not like it. I
Bought it for travel and did not like it. I;m used to high end flat irons. (solano, avanti, ghd) I didn't like the feel of it. It left hair dry and there was a smell. Its ok to straighten but not as good as others. I'd say its a "drug store" quality. Did not leave hair soft and shiny - it was just straight. If you have fine hair it should work fine but thicker hair will take a long time.

If your looking for a good straightener, look no further!
I have searched for a good hair straightener for a very long time. I took a chance on this one and this straightener exceeds all expectations! It is amazing! I have thick hair too and it straightens without a problem. It also leaves your hair silky and smooth. Would definitely recommend to anyone. It may be a little bit more expensive, but worth every cent!

I love it! My curls stay in my hair till ...
I use this product to create curls and wave in my hair. I love it! My curls stay in my hair till the next wash, though I know this varies depending on the type of hair you have. This product heads up quickly and gives it a slight shin. I only gave it four stars because I was hoping for more shine and not as soft as I hoped it would. There is also no indication when the straighter has reached the chosen temperature.

I love how this straightens but if you use your straightener ...
I love how this straightens but if you use your straightener for curling, the cord on this is the worst. It is naturally twisty which just doesn't work. It swivels but not properly and you just end up with a giant tangeled mess half way through and sometimes it will come unplugged. I am hopefully that overtime this will resolve itself and that the cord will become less twisty and more straight. I really do like the way it works a lot so for me it's worth putting up with.
