Julie Andrews' Collection of Poems, Songs, and Lullabies Hardcover – Picture Book, October 6, 2009

This book has some of my childhood favorites, and I look forward to reading many of the selections to the children in my life and to the child in me. However I was very disappointed that when I opened the book, instead of being greeted by that new book smell I love so much,I was hit by a ghastly gasoline-like smell that refuses to go away. Oh well, at least I can listen from a safe distance as Julie Andrews reads "The King's Breakfast." So cheers for the contents and jeers for the smell.

I have several poem collections and didn't know if this would offer much unique material, but I was pleasantly surprised. Julie Andrews publishes several poems here that have never been published before. I love the whole collection, too. It's one of my go-to books now for poetry when I'm in that "mood."

I bought this as a gift, but now I want to keep it :o) The book is organized into sections (Growing Up, Bedtime Blessings, Talk to the Animals...) with an introduction by Julie Andrews to each (perhaps my favorite part). This is a wonderful compilation of many classic poems, many of which I'd never read before, and many that I was already familiar with. Julie Andrews and Emma have also included a number of their own poems based of their life experiences. They will make you smile if you are a parent or child :o) The watercolor illustrations are also beautiful. Expose your children to all types of artwork and prose and read, read, read!

My granddaughters LOVE this book and CD

Wonderful variety of poems from classics for all ages to recent originals, some by Julie Andrews and her daughter. Colorful illistrations enhance the reaing experience.

I gave the book to new parents as a gift. I'm not sure my nephew was impressed but his wife "swooned" in his words. She reported that the poems made baby Everett laugh, which sounds like a very positive review to me. I was pleased/impressed that writers such as William Blake and Emily Dickenson were included. My hope was that the parents would read to the baby but the inclusion of an audio CD was a nice addition.

We love reading poetry in our home. My young children could listen for hours — as long as there is engaging artwork to enjoy along with! This collection is perfect: delightful poems, lush illustrations. One of my favorites to recommend!

A lot to love here and re-read for years to come, but as with all books of poetry... i never like them all. What I did not like however seemed to be the minority of the book.

I absolutely love this book and am reading it to my 3-year-old daughter who is learning to love poetry too. The collection is miscellanious and has multi-levelled poems so that even my daughter enjoys many of them. There is also a cd that comes with the book, in which Julie Andrews and her daughter read some of the poems. The only sad note is that when I read the title (Poems, Songs and LULLABIES)I had thought the cd would have some singing as I am a huge fan of Andrews. However I highly recommend this book!

My wife is a huge fan of Julie so was thrilled to have this book of poems for her collection.It came on time and was so well packed.

Very god book...beautifully illustrated.......we are enjoying it with our grandchildren

Wonderful CD. Took ages to arrive but worth waiting for

I bought this book for myself (a granny going to her 70th) to read it with my 5-year-old-granddaughter.Once a week we have GrannyDay - and we always have fun together; since a few days also with Julie's poems.She knows Dame Julie Andrews well ;o) - as MaryPoppins and from Julie's Greenroom - as well through her songs - whom I love to hear while car driving; for Example Sound of Music or Broadway Songs - some we try to sing along, she loves it - - and she loves Julie ...so am I.Comfortable delivery - the book + CD in very good condition - I'm very happy about it !!.
