Top plate grinds away
This unit is pretty solid, and I was loving it a lot when I first got it. However, the plate on top of the unit is made of aluminum, while the rod is made of steel. Aluminum is much softer than steel, so consequently mine has ground away after just 1 month of use, and now it has a horrible, crunchy, rough feeling when shifting between first and second, and this will only get worse. Metal flakes are all over the inside, which is concerning for the electronics and bearings. Can't put grease in there either because of the switches right next to the plate...Luckily this plate is removable and I happen to have the means to make a steel equivalent or 3D print a thick plastic one (while plastic is obviously softer than steel, unlike aluminum it has give and should at least wear smoothly).EDIT: I changed this to four stars, because if you learn to be gentle with it, the grinding issue seems largely negated (plus there's a lot to factor in for the price here...) However I'm still concerned about longevity, especially for the little "forks" in between each gear that have the shift rod banging into them all the time

Immersive and satisfying
So fun to shift gears, because it uses switches and a gated shifter design it feels mechanical which helps you find the gear without looking with every shift. I prefer the click and feedback that the hardware provides compared to the halleffect sensors many competitors are using
