What can I say? Maureen Sullivan and Johnny Weismuller, coupled with their animal friends, living a paradise life in the jungle on a tree house is a dream of all lovers of the natural habitat and wilderness. The on-screen chemistry between Johnny and Maureen is pure classic. The love they share and just how they live, should serve as an example on how to find true love and happiness. Each of the movies is special and beautifully scripted. My favorite was, and still is, Tarzan the Apeman. It shows how it all began. Of course, I still turn my eyes away from the screen when I see the guns fired at animals. Thanks to David Attenborough, attitudes towards flora and fauna have changed. When hunters come in the jungle, they are in essence, intruders into the animals' home. So tarzan feels the same as myself, and destroys the rifle as he is against any form of violence. These films have been imitated again and again, but none will come anywhere close to the original tarzan who really is Johnny Weismuller and Maureen Hara as the real Jane Parker. I love them both and will watch these again and again. You can see how their love is tested in the sequel, 'Tarzan Escapes' when even Jane' s sister sees their love for each other and decides to return back to 'civilization' leaving her sister in Heaven, with Tarzan. You can feel the pain and heartache of Tarzan when the evil party leader is trying to sepeate them and how good triumphs over evil.I love my tarzan and jane boxset and will treasure it forever. I've just seen the first two and just want them to go on forever. I can't wait to see the next. I watch one every night to relax and enjoy, with the light switched off to get the monochromic atmoshere. I highly recommend this as the definitive boxset for any true and loyal Tarzan fan. I can now say proudly, that I have the best XMAS gift ever. Thank you very much indeed, Amazon and to the Seller.

Good boxset of the first 6 Johnny Weissmuller tarzan movies. Used dvd but condition was good, box a bit used looking but the dvds play, which is what us important

but it took me back to wet Sunday afternoons and films on the telly.

The first four films have charm, excitement, fun and a bit of naughtiness. Some shots are repeated from film to film, the back projection is often clunky, but its easy to overlook the flaws and enjoy the real chemistry between Tarzan and Jane. The later films are different, cornier and blander. Still enjoyable but lacking the self-confidence and enthusiasm of the earlier scripts. Good to have the complete series, though, and the set brought back happy memories of watching these on late night TV.

What great value this set offers, for fans of classic Tarzan movies. And who better as Tarzan himself other than the mighty Johnny Weissmuller? These movies make it easy to see why Weissmuller remains to this day a fan favourite Tarzan. His take on the character is innocent but brave, affectionate but strong, childlike but not childish.There are MANY actors who have played the part, and done so very well, but there are just a handful that will forever be classed a actors who have defined a role in quite the way that Weissmuller did. Very few others indeed...Barker, Scott, Henry, Ely (on TV), Lambert?As for the films themselves, there are things in these films that just would not happen today, the cool indifference to racism (shooting dead a bearer that does not want to go any further through fear) the clearly white small actors, blacked up to play Pygmies, the footage from real hunting safaris, used as stock footage and as rear-projection back plates, showing lions and hippos actually being shot for fun. Thankfully, these things have passed, and good riddance to them.However, the films in themselves are excellent. It is good to see them again.

i brought this for my Husbandi know it shot in Black & white he likes Johnny Weissmuller is best has Tarzan, but his movies are good to watch after all these years, if you watch it in the dark you can see the mistakes which animals are real & not but that what make the movie my husband say.when my kids was growing up it nice to watch old movie like this & throw popcorn at TV at bad guys the kids for day went outside playing not be on there games..

This collection of six Tarzan movies - starring Johnny Weissmuller - consists of: "Tarzan the Ape Man" (1932), "Tarzan and His Mate" (1934), "Tarzan Escapes" (1936), "Tarzan Finds a Son!" (1939), "Tarzan's Secret Treasure" (1941) and "Tarzan's New York Adventure" (1942), all produced by the MGM studio.These are classic movies from the age of the silver screen! Each is enjoyable in its own terms, and as a collection they represent an excellent saga. Of course, they're dated ... the first film especially shows its age. There has been some restoration work, but these movies deserve more care and attention than they're so far received. It would be nice to see fully re-mastered versions on Blu-ray.In the first film, Tarzan is introduced. He is shown to be a heroic - yet rather wild - character. As the series develops, Tarzan is slowly tamed, and made more 'civil', yet he strives for his earlier life-style - and enjoys having Jane and their son live with him in the African jungles.This box-set has 3 discs (2 films on each; with both sides of each disc being playable).

make sure you find out what region the disk is designed for. I purchase this set as a gift and did they did not watch it right away. They waited and then found out that the region is not fitted for the USA. The region is a setting used in Marketing to control when the disc can be viewed. So I have spent over a large amount of money on tapes I can not view. I have tried to reach out to the vendor to see if they tell me how the region can be changed, Be careful when purchasing these disc.

Finalmente i film interpretati dal grande Weissmuller per la MGM, in altro cofanetto trovate quelli che interpretò per la RKO due cofanetti da avere senza indugi per completare, in Italiano, tutta la filmografia di Tarzan con questo magnifico attore, dimenticatevi tutte le successive versioni, l'unico Tarzan è quello di Weissmuller; detto questo il cofanetto non ha nulla di speciale, c'è qualche backstage, i trailer ed un succosa ma modesta galleria fotografica, ma quello che conta sono i film, ben riversati, tutti, i master usati dalla Sinister dovevano essere ben conservati, opera sublime che non può mancare e grazie alla Sinister che ci sta gratificando di questi capolavori, oltre ai Charlie Chan, i Mister Moto, e le meravigliose chicche di fantascienza ed horror ora anche questi, compratelo senz'altro e non fatevi sfuggire anche quello della RKO nella vostra cineteca ci saranno 12 capolavori in più
