Surprisingly great!
I had low expectations for these biscuits because the ingredient list seemed pretty standard, but they were surprisingly great! They're very tender and moist (something I struggle to achieve with homemade biscuits.) The flavor was really great - a slow burn, low level heat from the jalapenos and some added depth from the tomatoes. They're lightly sweet but just the right amount to pair with the savory flavors. I didn't have cheddar cheese so added shredded mozzarella, which felt weird but worked out, showing that they're flexible about the kind and quantity of cheese you choose to add.The price is the one downside - it's a lot for one batch of biscuits. (Though the great taste makes me tempted to repurchase!) I think they'd be nice to go along with a special occasion meal, or maybe to include in a themed gift basket.

A Blend Above the Basic Indeed
This mix is very tasty!! Mixes like this ask you to add cheese and milk, so it can be hard to tell if the stuff you added is what’s carrying most of the flavor or if the mix itself is also worthy in its own right. Therefore, I tested both this mix and the next closest thing I could find on my latest grocery store run: Pillsbury Cheddar Garlic Biscuit Mix. For both mixes, I used my own variations based on my past experiences. I only added ~20-30 g of powdered oat milk and 8 g worth of powdered spicy southwest cheese sauce. I added water in the amount of cups milk (e.g. this mix asked for 2/3 cups of milk, so I added 2/3 cups of water). When the biscuits were done, I ate them with pikliz (spicy Haitian coleslaw), and Laughing Cow cheese wedges. As far as texture, the Pillsbury Cheddar Garlic Biscuit Mix was better. To my surprise, there were generous chunks of garlic throughout the entire mix! I thought the garlic was just a flavoring within the mix itself, so at first, I actually thought they were clumps created from the powdered oat milk and powdered cheese lol. The garlic bits softened up in the oven, but they were still nice. For presentation, both mixes were a tie. Unfortunately, I only have pictures of the A Blend Above Jalapeno Cheddar Biscuits Mix. I don’t really take pictures of my food, and I forgot that I wanted to take a picture for this review. Visually, the Pillsbury Cheddar Garlic Biscuit Mix biscuits were lighter, but they were just as puffy.Pricewise, the Pillsbury Cheddar Garlic Biscuit Mix is cheaper. It’s $0.00566 per gram versus this mix’s $0.04807 per gram cost.Overall, however, the A Blend Above Jalapeno Cheddar Biscuits Mix is best. The Pillsbury Cheddar Garlic Biscuit Mix was a bit bland. I felt that I could eat the A Blend Above Jalapeno Cheddar Biscuits Mix plain and still be very content. On top of that, with this mix, the biscuits reminded me of a Haitian fried dough dish called marinad (might be spelled wrong lol). On the other hand, I had to use more pikliz with the Pillsbury Cheddar Garlic Biscuit Mix to get the best experience. I don’t regret my purchase, but if both mixes were on the shelf, I would buy the A Blend Above mix every time.

Quick and Easy Recipe: Add Sugar for a Sweeter Twist!
Biscuits Mix offers a quick and easy way to make homemade biscuits with a hint of jalapeno flavor. While my husband and kids enjoyed them, personally, I found the taste to be underwhelming. The preparation of these biscuits requires adding ingredients such as butter, milk, and cheese to the mix. However, upon trying them, I found that the mix itself primarily consists of flour and baking soda with a small amount of sugar and jalapeno powder. The biscuits are not sweet, which might be a surprise to some who expect a sweeter biscuit with the inclusion of sugar.

Tasty Biscuit But Pricey
These biscuits were flavorful after adding butter. I definitely tasted the jalapeño. The box states that you can make 10 biscuits. For that amount, the price seems high, especially because you need to buy the cheese.

Not good
I was thinking this would resemble the cheddar bay biscuit mix I’ve used before and it did NOT. It was super dry. Almost like a cornmeal. And SO spicy. I like spicy but this is crazy.

Maybe add more butter? Quite spicy.
I make all sorts of biscuits by just randomly throwing things into a bowl and mixing. This is an additional thing I can throw into a bowl, but don’t be stymied by the specific instructions on the back. For instant, I think these would be better with a bit of additional butter to moisten them up a bit. I’d suggest throwing in some shaved butter (or finely chopped butter) at the end of mixing so that the butter melts in with the cheese, similar to how a good layered biscuit is made with only cold butter. This will make a more moist biscuit. The type and amount of cheese you add is up to you. It’ll stay to itself (it won’t melt to the point of mixing in with the batter), so the cheese will be gooey inside the biscuit, but it won’t moisten the biscuit batter itself – thus the extra butter recommendation. I don’t like too much cheese, so I’d go extra on the butter and light on the cheese. This would be good with some peppers or maybe corn thrown in as well, as long as you are going to eat the biscuits right away. They are spicy. For those who like a sweet spicy biscuit, a bit of honey would be good in these. As with all things, creativity can make it better – consider this a base and you’ll be happy.

Tasty!
A Blend Above Jalapeno Cheddar Biscuits Mix is product reviewed. These were surprisingly tasty! I decided to use them for a gathering of friends and the general view was tastes great! I did find them a tad dry but a little butter went perfectly! Not too spicy but just enough to really add that back end heat. I think it's a bit expensive BUT when you're looking for something special to add to a dinner, these were a fantastic addition!
