What is the difference between this and rainbird part # 210746-03 9 (rpk diaph) diaphram kit?

Probably they are the same part. I bot these and they work fine. Perfect fit for a dozen Rainbird Valves I had installed ten years ago that some started leaking. I don't think Rainbird has changed their valve design or tooling. mine are the 3/4 inch inline. Be careful when installing screws to back turn them until you feel the thread drop, so the screw thread uses the original thread in the lower housing. That way you don't cut a new thread or break off the original threads in the lower housing. If the lower thread gets reamed out or damaged, you have to change out the whole valve. (Plumber work!). Also, use a real NO 2 Plillips. Kit come with new screws. I just use the old ones as they are sure to conform to the original housing base. No sense to plow new ground in old plastic

How can you tell if you need a new diaphragm? Symptoms? My system is about 12 years old.

I change out a diaphragm when the valve starts to create "water hammer" when it shuts off...This is a audible "clunk" at shutdown. Otherwise it not leaking all seem to be OK. Mine are 22 years old and I have replaced these things about three times is all.

My original diaphragm has a hole in it blocked by a white plastic plug and flat screen. I don't see that on the pictured replacement. Does it matter ?

I believe it is black vs. white in the picture or on the other side. These work with a wide variety of valves.

Is the diaphragm kit pictured the one you get? This is the exact one I need and I do not need the white plastic plug.
