I love all the books in this series, but this was one of my favorites. Both of them are mourning the same man, her father, and his best friend, and they were lost until they found comfort and love in each other. This is well written but it’s not my favorite. I’m not into extreme age gaps. (There’s a 31 year age gap; Jack is 53 and Ruby is 22). It took me a while to set that aside and get into the story. It’s definitely steamy. I took off one star because the description labels this story as safe, but it’s not. If you want a safe story, start reading at chapter 3 and skip over chapter 11. These are the ‘action’ scenes and don’t impact your understanding of the plot.This is NOT a safe read (but you can always skip the three unsafe chapters because it won’t impact your understanding of the story). The entire first 1/4 of the book is non-stop violence. If any of the following are triggers for you, you can just skip to chapter 3 and start the story there since that’s where they actually meet and their story begins. If you don’t like violence then you can also skip chapter 11. Everything else is safe to read.CW: survivor’s guilt, PTSD, drug dealers, murder, cage fights, suicide, suicidal ideations, 31 year age gap, substance abuse, mention of intent to rape (not by the hero), etc.The first chapter is Ruby’s prologue and the second chapter is Jack’s prologue. I didn’t like Jack at all in chapter 2 but he instantly decided to be better and let go of his grief when he met Ruby again. He quits alcohol, cigarettes, and cage fighting as soon as he meets Ruby again. I like that Ruby is the one to initiate a relationship with Jack because otherwise there would be a power imbalance if he pursued her while she was depending on him for safety and shelter.I don’t think that there is anything wrong with a hero falling for a damsel in distress, but I also am not crazy about the jaded hero ending up with an innocent young virgin either, but I know a lot of people do like that.

But….in the best way possible, of course!Listen, I’m basically obsessed with a OTT book…she is the queen of a spicy 🌶️ and delicious 🤤 insta-love/lust. So, do not take this lightly because I am about 💯 sure that this book is my absolute favorite. It was my pleasure to share a bit of Jack & Ruby’s love story.

Loved that it didn't drag and that this big bad ass Navy Seal had such a huge soft spot for his girl. Very cute story.

This started off so much differently then the others and I absolutely loved it!It was a really good short and quick story with a few hot and spicy scenes, all the obsessions and love and adoration.

This was a short spicy novella with a really great storyline. Jack was a Navy Seal with Ruby's father, and is more than 30 years older than Ruby. Ruby has had a crush on Jack since she was a little girl. When Ruby witnesses a murder, and has to run for her life, she runs straight to Jack for help.

Loved this addition to the series would love to see a reverse where a older women gets a guy like this! Sure would be nice as we need a man with all the qualities these alpha mountain men have

Ruby’s dad’s best friend sends her a Christmas card with his address and the message,”I will always be here for you.” Ruby works three jobs and lives in a dangerous area. She witnesses a murder and someone helps her escape.Jack is in a very dark place. The alcohol, cigarettes, and fights push the darkness back. But it always comes back.Ruby shows up at Jack’s mountain home scared, because the evil man is after her. Jack swears he will protect her. Can their relationship stay neutral?

I was dubious at first, but wow! I did not put it down. I can hardly wait to read the rest of them.

and add strong arms and bloody revenge! Short and sweet, what more can you ask of a well written book?

This is a great read and I loved all the characters in this book. Couldn't stop reading - just kept saying just one more chapter. Definitely read this you will love it.

I’ve read books by OT before but I must admit in this case the cover fully got me and I’m glad it did!Nice quick read nothing too complicated and that drew me in too! Sometimes the quick reads are just as good if not better than the longer books!Jack was spiralling and then he got something to tether him to the right side of the mountain!Ruby crushed hard on her dad’s best friend.. lands in a spot of trouble and Jack is there ready and waiting.Problem solved!👏🏾😅

Recommended by a friend this was a fun dirty quickie. She’s in danger & her dad’s best friend just so happens to be an ex navy seal. Sign me up
