Good quality
Ideal for smaller scopes like monoculars, binoculars and cameras.Great for the price

Fine for lighter weight cameras/scopes
It performs well for the price and would be perfect for a lighter camera/scope set up. I'm using a 1.6kg scope and it's only just able to lock it from dipping when tightened up to the maximum

There is no solid lock to any of the movements
What surprised me most when I received this was its small size. Compared to my Manfrotto MHXPRO-2W video head this Neewer product looks like a toy. Like most Neewer products I’ve handled this looks and feels like a quality product, though putting it into use revealed a few shortcomings.First the bubble level is not on the base, where it would be useful in letting you know the tripod was level. It is in fact set on the tilting part of the head which renders it useless as the camera can be perfectly level in respect of the horizon but still tilted up or down, and this level would show this as un-level.There is a tightening screw on the base which I think is supposed to allow some change to the resistance of ‘fluidity’ when rotating the head. It seems to have go and almost stop and not much in between. The motion is good and silky smooth, I’ve no complaints there, but it won’t lock. You can always move it - even when the lock screw is tightened as fully as I can get it.Likewise the tilt lock. There is some variation in resistance available and in the hand it seems to lock ok, but when it’s on a tripod I can always move it up and down when locked as tight as it will go.The ARCA quick release plate locks tightly enough for me not to have to worry about the security of my camera, but it’s not really a quick release as it’s a knob you have to screw in and unscrew to release the plate. The inability to lock it tightly in place in either direction is a big let-down for me with this. It’s more like something to stick on a table-top tripod with a lightweight compact camera than a serious bit of video equipment. Admittedly the Manfrotto costs about £100 more so isn’t a serious alternative in this price range, but I think a quality ball head might be a better choice than this.

Great live it
Love it up to the job well made

Poor quality, unstable
The pan motion is not smooth, it is stiff and jumpy. The tilt motion is fine but then when you tighten the tilt lock it pushes the top of the head over, changing the framing of the image. The head is basically unusable for any precision video work.

Apart from the locking knob for the Arca base, great quality!
Pros- great materials- simplistic functions- quite small- good function ability- good functioning locking mechanismsCons- the mount lock is a bit awkward to reachSo I'll start firstly with the con, it's typical of pretty much most ball heads in the lower brackets. I use a Three Legged Thing L-Bracket and it's pretty awkward to tighten and feel super comfortable about it's security. The knob is just a bit short and a bit too close to the bottom of the bracket to get bigger fingers under there to give it a good tighten. However, saying that, it tightens pretty quickly. As in, it doesn't take a lot of rotation to tighten it properly. I'm not sure I'd 100% trust it over a drop or a water source. Maybe those stronger might be able to get a great tightness on it but I can get a pretty good tightness on it regardless. It's pretty low profile considering. I love having a shorter arm although I know this might be too short for a really smooth turn when using video but I mainly shoot photography and it works great for that.Handle locks in nicely. Not complaints. It's on the thinner side but I don't mind this. It's a smooth rotation around on the 360 bass as well.Everything else is nice to tighten off. It holds tight when facing forwards as well with a D5600.The spirit level is pretty accurate but I always find these things a bit awkward to get perfect. It will at least minimise any later editing. It screws onto the tripod thread nicely. Neewer products have definitely got that down. Everything I've had from them with newer releases all have really smooth threading. Definitely a strong point to the manufacturing.Reasonable price at £40.99, much better than the cheaper options for sure.Nice to see an additional thread size for the rotating plate and another Hex key included. Although if you're anything like me, you'll be racking them up on top of all the others sets you use elsewhere.Genuinely loving the better quality from Neewer these days.I'm honestly going to enjoy using this as the regular head for my main tripod.Apart from the locking knob for the Arca base, great quality!
